Dear Gods. There are going to be so many stars to abuse this. Jack Black for one. I can picture him writhing frozen in mid-air. And of course Ashton will want this so he can see his own beautiful body in 360. ::shivers::

Great. Just what I've been yearning to see, 360° of Andy Samberg.

All I need to know is what's the deal with the flower-petal bit on the end of the lens? I've seen them before, but never had a clear explanation for their purpose. Is it so you don't end up cutting the corners off of an otherwise rectangular photo?

Please stop doing camera reviews. All your photos suck and don't do justice to the cameras.

Hey John, which lenses did you use for this shoot-out?

In the picture it looks like the canon 24-105 f4 L, which is a nice lens, but the 24-70 f2.8L is a much better (imo--optically).

The best part about the ISO perf, is with a little post processing noise reduction software, you can get some pretty great shots.

Having been through the last Canon Vs. Nikon round. I will remain neutral and say that I'm very pleased to see both companies producing such stellar equipment.

Conclusion: If you have bank, it's a great time to be a Canon or Nikon guy.

It's great (except to the wallet) that both companies are making each other better.

    I have a 5Dm2, it's my 3rd DSLR; and it's phenomenal.

Oh, wonderful kitteh footage. That made my morning. Beautiful.

My brother-in-law as a MKII and it's amazing. Mainly because it shoots full HD video. BUT, yes, no autofocus and the ISO and exposure settings are locked. I love the camera, but personally I'd wait until they get the video mode really sorted. I'm sure both Canon and Nikon will have full pimped-out video modes very soon.

@alowishus, ecoboosted: No, there is Autofocus, however it doesn't track (ie one-shot, not AI).

I have both cameras. I think the Nikon is a little more adjustment friendly than the Canon. Just about everything is at your fingertips on the D700 where the 5D MkII takes a little more menu navigation- but no big deal really! All in all they both are awesome cameras it really does boil down to the glass. I just so happen to have glass for both systems. Just blow all your money on both and you will be happy and broke!

@smellslikedan: I believe that's why John ultimately made the decision based on the feature comparison (1080p video) rather than quality because both are just as good.

On the D700, you can change the "turn wheel while holding button" behavior to "tap button, then turn wheel" - it's a setting in the Nikon menus called "Release Button to Use Dial" - same as on the D300 (and probably others).
