Sony NW-A800 Review: Not the Killer Walkman We Wanted

As much as I'd like to see Sony come out with a killer Walkman, it ain't happening any time soon. Sure, the A800 plays video and lets you create playlists on the fly, but it doesn't have any features that make you wanna rush out and buy it. To me, it's just another fish in the sea. Ring the church bells, for the Sony NW-A800 portable media player (Walkman) is now official. It's Europe-only for now (and expensive, too, at around $392), but you know what? You probably won't miss it. It does everything that every other two-bit knockoff portable media player does, except that it'll also play ATRAC files. Sizes range from 2-8GB with pricing potentially starting a bit higher than the Nano's. Plans are for the the interface to stay the same. More »

Franz Ferdinand Walkman

Speaking of the NW-A1000 MP3 player and its ">organic EL display, Sony Japan is doing a limited edition of 100 Franz Ferdinand encrusted DAPs. The front will copy the jacket design of the band's "You Could Have It So Much Better" CD, and the back will have photos of the band members. The player will also hold a special message from the band, and an autographed card. Otherwise, this has the same specs as the NW-A1000/B. More »

Check out the Sony A series, limited edition NW-A1000. A 6GB player in jet black, it's small, smooth and retro looking and has a 128x128 pixel OLED.
