Oasis Table Starts & Ends Fishy Life With Sand

Here's something that you might miss among all the crazy junk at SIGGRAPH. It's an interactive aquatic life table called Oasis, by designer Yunsil Heo, that is completely covered by fancy black sand. Why is it covered, you ask? Well, that's what makes it interactive. By moving the sand so it will show the LCD screen below you begin to grow aquatic life. At first only little guppies appear, but over time the guppies start to grow into fish and other crazy aquatic creatures. Make the sand-less hole bigger and it starts to populate with more life. Then once your little fishies are all grown up, just cover them up with sand and they'll be dead. [Oasis]

Oasis and Jamiroquai Mulling Radiohead's Pay-What-You-Want Example

Oasis and Jamiroquai are heavily considering jumping aboard the direct-to-audience express, planning to distribute their albums in a pay-what-you-will manner from their website, a la Radiohead. With the bands continuing to line up, do you guys think this is really the beginning of the end for the old way of doing business? Or just a small-scale rebellion that will ultimately peter out? Oasis On The 803T

Let's see here... U2 gets an iPod, The Black Eyed Peas are owned by Best Buy, and all poor Oasis is left with is Toshiba's 803T handset. The 3G mobile music player, which gets released in Europe this month, will come pre-loaded with live and exclusive content from the band on a 512MB SD memory card. The card will include:

video for the new Oasis single 'Let There Be Love' as well as five exclusive live audio and video tracks recorded at the Oasis homecoming concert at the City of Manchester Stadium in July 2005.

Is there anything to stop someone from buying the phone, removing the card and passing it around to friends, family and BitTorrent?
