How does it handle in regards to Kitchenette Hockey? I need a chair that's comfortable, gives a smooth ride on bargain linoleum, with enough room for me to swing a push broom while seated.

Too bad that Aero I have is crap. After $750 and three years, it broke. Apparently, a common design flaw in the support mechanism with the adjustment cylinder. Costs $170 to have someone come out and fix it.

I prefer some Steelcase chairs and they atleast start at half that $750 price...

Naked Jesus. I just really didn't need that imagery this early in the morning.

I like that the chair can be tall, short, stationary, or wheeled though!

So where's the 10 best acceptably comfortable office chairs that cost less than $500, for, you know, those of us who work for a living?

@alexmg2420: What does cost matter if you're working? That's what expense accounts and budgets were invented for. I mean we need a copier, but you can't sit on it.

Is this title really accurate? "Most comfortable?" I mean, I've seen these all on Gizmodo but I hardly think *all* of these are comfy. I would definitely *not* consider the WorkBay chair or the RFID chair at all comfortable.

How about Gizmodo take advantage of the opportunity and do an "ask the readers" type thread to really assess what readers find most comfortable?

@Tamar Weinberg: The word assess, in a post about chairs will only do more harm than good.

Damn you Giz! I though there would actually be an overview of comfortable office chairs. I need a new one...

@ionerox: agreed. This article is a bit of a letdown. Of the chairs pictured, only six are arguably office or home office chairs (unless you work for Kotaku) and of those six only two seem to be in production; the $1600 embody1a and that chair designed by a proctologist. The others all seem to be concept pieces which is cool, but I was hoping for a more serious article that might actually help folks who work at home find a decent assplatter. I'll forgive it though; I assume the gizmodizens are still recovering from their new year's debauchery and are just phoning it in until Monday. And they do have a long haul of CES ahead of them - they deserve a good break. :)

I recently went through this and looked around quite a bit at the offerings. It seemed there were few chairs that rivaled the all-day comfort of the Aeron (there is a reason it's so popular) but those chairs go for $400-$500 used. Though not nearly as pretty or quite as comfortable, I ended getting a high-back leather office chair, the Quillian from Staples for $120 and so far my butt and back have loved it.
