I tell all my customers that phones should be carried in a case, pockets are just asking for trouble. Typically a pocket carried phone will only last 10-15 months. Where a phone kept in a good case or pouch will last much longer. They are also a lot harder to steal.
@acemannw: Yes, that's what you tell your "customers". My computer salesman told me I needed to buy rust-proofing for my computers. People say many things to get someones money into their pocket.
I still think it's weird to be thrilled about a store we don't like closing down. It's almost as if their reps come into your house, steal your cc's and send a lot of useless shit to your doorstep without your permission.
If they had hired just one person with even a modicum of knowledge and a lot less attitude thay might still be in business, but I guess those people wont work for minimum wage.
One day a bustling urban community, The next, wiped clean from the earth without a trace. We must be vigilant in the time ahead. For the power that caused one city to fall may strike again, and if we are not wary we may be left with nothing...
Sad, but anyone who's shopped at CC in the past 5 years had to see this coming! Maybe it's just the ones in and around the NY tri-state area, but they nothing but degenerates working for them.
@DucatiGuy: Yeah their stores were dirty, and I swear 50% of the sales people at the one by my parent's place were high-as-fcuk every single time I went in there.
I have been calling it "Circuit Bodega" for years...
This should be a wake up call to all retail stores. You need to shift focus to your online presence and close your retail locations. There is too much overhead in retail stores to remain competitive.
It doesn't make sense to focus on online sales. What makes you think that you are going to compete with online retailers such as Amazon? Your greatest asset if you are Best Buy/Circuit City is that you can walk into the store and get it. WalMart is killing them though. Online presence isn't going to fix anything. And the fact that 0% interest credit will be harder to get will put the nail in the coffin, many shoppers stuck with Best Buy/Circuit City because they had credit through them. When that dries up they will absolutely be history.
The good thing for Circuit City about going into bankruptcy protection is that the Government backs their assets. Meaning Sony can sell to them freely because the government will be backing their line of credit. It's there only hope.
@Mayor McRib: Yeah but they need to focus more on the high volume of sales items and only stock a couple units for everything else...
The one thing that I did like about CC was that you could order something from their website and even if they didn't have it in their nearest store, they could get it there in a day or two for free then you could just go in and pick it up. Faster than mail-order, cheaper than mail-order and local pickup.
But to reiterate that was the ONLY thing I liked about CC...
Bye, bye CompUsa. Bye, bye Circuit City. Who's next? Let's see if Best Buy can compete against WalMart. Already specialty retailers like ToysRus have started teetering due to WalMart's encroaching inventory. And my local WalMart recently did a large makeover on itself, reorganizing the Electronics department to look more like a mini electronics retailer.
