they are forgetting what NETBOOK is. ya ya stuff it more and more on to it, but no one will gonna care to pay $531(estimated price according to digitimes) for intel atom based notebook, oops i mean netbook.
@sprp85: I don;t think the public cares what a Netbook is supposed to be. I think people just want cheap and lightweight. Portability on this level used to be the province of people who could pay $2,500. If they keep the price around $500 there will be a lot of happy buyers who could give a crap what the thing is called.
@chefgon: Good point. My though exactly. When is a netbook not a netbook? When it is a laptop? If a laptop is small enough to have everything a laptop should have but it is smaller than a current netbook.. is it a laptop?
AFAIR, way back in the day they called these things sub-notebooks, which really just meant the size was smaller than a regular notebook. So I'm calling it sub-notey from now on.
It does not look like a mac at all...more like an HP. But it's neat to see a netbook with an optical drive, but I won't buy it. I prefer my netbooks with more juice and less weight.
@ki.cz:Also, how does this thing "look like a mac"????
Overpriced? Only uses proprietary hard/software? Doesn't play well with others? Will take over 2% of the market? Has a cult following in which the head of Asus is considered a God? Uses aluminum, charges for platinum? Name is 3 letters long?
@ki.cz: wouldn't that drive kill battery life...? I'd rather they get a faster and larger HD in there instead of an optical drive, so I could use ISOs instead.
@TerryinSt.Paul: You just had to go there, didn't you? I guess when computers are all you have, you're going to be a little defensive of your child, excuse me, machine.
@Brett Benedict: I have a wife, 2 girls and a dog and bird. I will defend my family with my life. A computer is just a computer, Mac or PC. I am not defensive of this little machine. Everything I said is true of apple. I was trying to answer ki.cz's question. You need to: 1) Find, make or buy a real-life friend (or pay the neighbor) 2) Ask friend/neighbor to remove stick from ass 3) Go back to facebook!

I gotta agree there. I wouldn't even call that a netbook -- sub-notebook at least.
I also would have phrased it this way: I like my netbooks as I like my women: with more juice and less weight.

Sweet.

The labels wouldn't fit.

Just defensive en général?
