Samsung's SCh-V960 may have the first optical joystick available on a phone, but we'll be damned if we can figure out what the hell that means. But we can take a look at Samsung's "fingerprint recognition" joystick patent to get a better idea of how it's going to work.
Here's a first from Samsung: a cellphone with an optical joystick. Slide your finger on it and the cursor moves anywhere you want on the screen, instead of just in four directions like most directional controls on cellphones. Then you can click on the icons on the screen, just like when you're using a laptop touchpad.
