    Not bad.
    As for the optical drive, well I don't really use 'em on a laptop that much anymore.

    Maybe for installs, but all my media has been ripped to my computer at this point and even installs are on my server now.

    I dunno, it only seems important for installs nowadays, at least for me.

    Pretty interesting...
    But my number one priority right now is a tablet netbook.

    Also, I'm still stuck with my Dell XPS 1330 which had to have it's mainboard replaced 3 times (in two years) already due to NVidia chipset failure. Warranty is over now, so I can't even play games on it fearing the chipset will overheat again.

    And I promised myself to never ever spend this much money on a laptop with NVidia graphics card. I don't care if ATI is worse, overheats or whatever... my old Acer lappie had an ATI X700 mobility card and never failed on me once.

    Unless you want to watch movies, play games, install software, or make long-term backups, I don't see a reason for them.

    @IverMussaid: External DVD/CD drive. Not as seamless a setup as a built-in optical, but where other than home are you going to go around installing new software most of the time?

    @Kaiser-Machead: I dunno about you, but I prefer to install my software while skydiving. It would be very dangerous to have a DVD drive flapping about on a USB cable while I'm trying to read the EULA and pull my chute's ripcord.

    A 14 inch laptop has no reason to be sold with out an optical drive.

    @walker2151: I'm pretty sure that's the other way around, though I don't have the numbers to show for it. Lots and lots of suites are being distributed over the web, rather than in retail packaging.

    But yeah, I guess most people still buy the optical media.

    @Kerfudle: How's that so?
    No reason for you maybe, but tons of people will be interested in this.

    I for one only use a DVD drive only when I need to backup some stuff, so it's dead weight when I carry my laptop around.

    @Bokusatsu_Tenshi:
    Well considering this laptop is deadweight in general, then it should be fit with an optical drive. Its not thin its beveled from 0.8 inches to 1.22 inches. Its not small its a 14 inch laptop. Also most laptops with a screen size greater than 13 inches are for media or pro use.

    @jtwesley17: I was going to make a crack about it not playing Gears of War 2 but then I remembered that the PS3 plays Little Big Planet which is, in the end, a far better and more innovative game.

    Oh yeah baby. Slide it in there good. You know it gets me all hot when you slide your disk in there like that.

    Well, either that or the massive heat that the XBox emits.
