If this is anything like their laser TVs I won't hold my breath.

What the hell happened to those laser TV's anyway? Did they all blow up or burned their owners retinas?

Those floors are fatal, always sneaking up on you when you're like... walking on them... and stuff.

Gizmodo can't employ proof readers now?

They should start small as we have a huge market in phones and sub 12" devices. Those by themselves are worth billions. As they ratchet up the supply for those markets they can improve as well as fund larger panel manufacturing.

@Noobs-R-Us: They should totally hire you. Those stupid Sony people... I'm sure no one over there has even looked at the market for sub 12" devices! You should ring them up and explain that they're overlooking BILLIONS in revenue!

Electro luminescent strips and panels have been around for years, and there a hell of a lot cheaper then those.

I think these can produce much more natural colour, but I am not 100% sure. I think they are also more efficient.

@Mike Ellis: Plus, the EL stuff requires a high frequency power supply. The cheaply made ones emit a really annoying high-pitched whine.

@scarbrtj: I actually do go out in the sun. I use SPF90 (or higher) and walk around under an umbrella. This summer, when I was vacationing at the beach, I was the ONLY person laying out to get sun from 8 to 9 a.m.

In reply to OLEDs to be Used to Treat Skin Cancer, Acne

Many skin cancers are currently treated by a combo of light and drugs (called photodynamic therapy)...

PDT is used to treat many skin conditions, but it is practically NEVER used to treat skin cancer.
