But a few months ago, I proved them wrong. #remotecontrol

Personally I expect this will be used as a computer monitor in business settings to display large amounts of data. Mind you, I could also see this being used for I don't know, 4 Xbox 360's hooked up to provide 16 player death match in halo all in one room :)... wow, screen looking to the max!

A 56-incher? Really? Dude, 40-50 is about the minimum size I'd accept watching an HD signal. Trying to cram four of them into a 56" would be like trying to watch 4 SD streams on a 25 incher. Sure, the resolution is there, but....who cares? You can hardly even take it in.

You give me a 100, or a 150 inch screen in 4k...then, baby, we're talking!

So if you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 50 inch set at 5 feet, how close do you have to sit to fully appreciate this? Nose to the glass?

@The Lab: I don't know where you get your information from. I've witnessed first hand the HUGE difference between 720p and 1080p on my 46" at about 7 feet. It's easy to be a naysayer, but I've tried it and it's definitely there.

@ssnowblind: I got the distance wrong but the source is Popular Mechanics: Fact: A 1080p set (one with at least 1920 x 1080 pixels) does have higher resolution than a 720p (at least 1920 x 780) set. But the importance of those extra pixels depends on the size of your TV and the distance you are away from it. If you are sitting more than 8 ft. from a 42-in. HDTV or more than 10 ft. from a 50-in. set, you won’t notice the difference.

    This is Quad-HD, not 4k.

    4k has a resolution of 4096×3072, not 3840x2160.

no - it would have to upscale so that 4 pixels take the place of one normal, regular HD pixel. which would probably make it look WORSE.

2009: an outbreak of swine flu leaves 1.5 billion people dead, worldwide.

2010: of the survivors of the swine flu outbreak, 87% suffer serious side-effects that include reduced mental capacity and an insatiable hunger for brains.

2011: Sean Fallon, prepared for the "zombie" outbreak with a tactical crossbow and a wind-up USB power adapter, leads the remaining unaffected humans to safety. Aunty Fallon, as he eventually known, establishes the capitol of the post-apocalyptic world, known as Gizmodotown.
