Not only because it's pretty—or in a pretty setting—but because it's designed to work as a nice laptop pad, and not only because it's hardened.

The Philips Notebook Sleeve also has a soft cushion built-in and, what is more important, "an extra HeatProtect layer prevents overheating by allowing good air flow." Sounds good to me and to my private parts. The design is good too, with a suede-like lining and a rubberized zip, so your notebook doesn't get scratched.

<![CDATA[The Palm Pre: It's Good For Your Cooter]]> This stoned-out-of-her-mind Canadian actress Tamara Hope talking about flow for 30 seconds makes this Palm Pre ad more like a tampon ad instead of a cellphone commercial.

Really, a chest-up-naked lady slowly whispering about something is exactly the kind of direction you'd take a feminine hygiene product spot if you were the director. And, what's up with the Bing, Bing, Bing? Weird, Palm. Weird.

<![CDATA[Laptop Cooler Features Slot-Loading Hard Drive Dock]]> One look at this conglomeration and you pretty much know it's from Brando. Their latest clunky tech masterpiece is officially named a USB Notebook Cooling Pad + 3-Port Hub + 2.5" HDD.

At its core, the system is a dual-fan USB-powered laptop cooler with extra USB ports. Enter Brando, and this simple device gets injected with a rear-loaded 2.5" SATA hard drive dock to add extra storage. It's hard to believe that the average laptop USB port can power two fans, a SATA drive and three additional USB devices, but it looks like there's AC power to back up the system (the product description was a bit light on this point).

The USB Notebook Cooling Pad + 3-Port Hub + 2.5" HDD is available now for $33. Live it up. [Brando]

<![CDATA[CPR Pad Makes Resuscitation as Easy as ABC]]> This concept is a gizmo which you'd have in a first aid kit to help you if someone collapses and needs CPR. You'd whack it on the chest of the ill person, line it up and follow its instructions. It flashes to give you proper timing, and clicks to let you know you're using the right chest-compression pressure (it's harder than you think). It looks pretty simple, and is exactly the sort of thing that might help save a few lives in an emergency. Best of all, it's a classic case of nominative determinism in action: its designer is Ryan Helps. [Yanko Design]

<![CDATA[Dicota Beat Mini Gamepad for Road Warriors]]> If you're looking to take your PC gaming on the road but haven't found a conveniently sized game controller, the Dicota Beat Mini Gamepad might do the trick. It's designed in a compact form factor that folds up into a clamshell and weighs just 1.76 ounces.

It's built with serious fraggers in mind, too, with a rubberized nonslip finish. Even though it's improbably small at less than 2 inches square, it even has vibration feedback. But at that diminutive size, it might just be too small for us laptop gamers with large hands. Look for it in June for around €22.90, or about 30 bucks.

<![CDATA[Thermaltake iXoft Fanless Laptop Cooler]]> Thermaltake, the king of keeping things cool, has added this fanless laptop cooling pad to their line of cooling accessories. This 22-ounce pad uses a little bit of chemistry to keep the laptop cool by absorbing heat and distributing it across the pad. It is available in black and white and support laptops up to 17-inches. Because the iXoft is fabric, it can also be folded or rolled-up for easy transportation.

<![CDATA[TurboFragPad Mouse Pad Basically a Glowing Pane of Glass]]> TFP_Pad_400.jpgThe nerds at GameApex went ahead and did a 3 page review of a mouse pad. But not just any mousepad. These are the all glass, custom etched, super-duper high performance, cold-cathode lit TurboFragPad mouse pads. Oh Joy! Author Adil Qarni finds it to be nicer looking and bigger than the Loony Tunes pointer pad he bought 10 years ago. And faster. But, Adil, was it a Road Runner mousepad?

<![CDATA[Morph Pad]]> Two types of phone calls in the office bore people to tears: conference calls and nagging-wife calls. For these circumstances, there's the Morph Pad, a writing pad that you can mold and shape to all kinds of different designs. You can make a wavy sideways structure, a curvy vertical statue, or some kinda fanned out deal.

Okay, so there's only a few things you can do with it, but wriggling the pad around in your hand is so much fun. Oh, and you can actually write take notes on it. Call them up to order some with your own company's logo.

<![CDATA[Lamborghini Mouse Pad]]>

No, this isn't just some $5 mouse pad with a Lamborghini on it. This is an actual Italian leather Lamborghini mousepad, made by the same people who bring you those fancy horseless wagons with all the horses under the hood.

The pad is in the shape of the Lamborghini crest, but doesn't have the actual crest design. We're not sure how much it costs, but it's sure to be less than the $500 F1 Mouse Pad.

Update: It's 50 Euros ($63). Thanks Steve!
