As good as it might be, this will be the phone that will kill Palm. They will loose $$$ on every model sold.

@cruzer555: And you know this from significant time using the Pre? I didn't realize we had a Palm developer in our commenting group.

Call me crazy, but I think it is a little early to be saying either "kicks the shit" our of the other. However, if you want to say the iPhone will be a tough device to beat, I doubt you will hear any argument.

Interesting that Palm (bordering on left for dead) and Sprint (bordering on left for dead) managed to come into the first day of CES and shatter the world. I hope this turns both companies around in a big way.

In many ways, it is up to Sprint what to charge for it, of course. If Sprint wants to take a loss on the device sale (and make up for it in monthly fees), they can price it at $199. Palm, on the other hand, simply needs to make a reasonable profit for their work.

I do agree that anything more than $299 with a contract will not have the splash that is needed. And, frankly, the only way to make this thing be the "next iPhone" is to price it at $199. Like it or not, Apple / AT&T has set the bar, and Sprint is going to have to do some limbo work.
