I had a chance to play with it today at Bell. Its nothing fancy, but its EASILY the best palm device to come out, possibly ever. Its just a solid WM device with a really odd shape and design (it feels almost slippery). But really should wait until the Pre drops...
Some people like physical keyboards for one. Secondly they've already spent the R&D money. They might as well push through and attempt to get an ROI for the cash dumped into development of the Treo-Pro.
@OMG! Ponies!: Hrm, but exactly would you go about marketing the Palm OMG! Ponies!?? I mean, for one, it has two exclamation marks in the name, which makes it a bit odd to create hype around, as its own name is hype.
One of the reasons I don't often tamper with the screen-name is aesthetics of it. Concise and direct, the all-caps of the first part balances against the length of the second part. And the exclamation points help direct the eye.
@So...: The 3G iphone did sell record numbers in a short amount of time. Two reasons for this. One, many people held off buying the first iphone because they were waiting for 3G. Second, there was also a percentage of 2G iphone owners who traded up their devices as well. Competing with that is more about producing a solid product coupled with long term goals and not simply to have bragging rights over selling a million units in three weeks.

Oh, and both have a physical keyboard. (because two other replies saying the same thing wasn't enough.)

That would have been reason for a backorder.

Gosh.

Like honestly, without buying into the pre hype.
(see what i did there?)
Keep in mind that the estimated annual sales for the pre are 1.5 million.
