    I dont think its that big of a deal if the Pixi doesnt have iTunes syncing. All Android powered phones dont have it but everybody is in love with them now. Yes it was a dirty hack that was awesome but I dont see it as a deal breaker. #palmpixireview

    Palm is not doomed... *denial?*

    My contract is done on Dec 1st and I really wanted to upgrade to a Palm Pre.

    Hero has a slower processor and it's only on android 1.5.... Not touching that.

    Verizon and AT&T are expensive(i am a college student)

    and T-Mobile has crap.

    What to do? #palmpixireview

    Get the Motorola Droid. It supports Google voice, so you can get a very low minute plan and use the great 3G coverage to make calls with Google voice. So that should make up for the price differential. Right now you can get it as low as $200, but if you wait a month it will (for sure) drop to 100-150. Spending an extra 50 for something you use every day is really worth it. #palmpixireview

    Apparently it bears repeating.

    Users are finding there's a glitch in the software (1.3.1) that seems to cause the slowness and jitters. The current answer sucks (run the Pixi on 1xRTT only). An emergency update from Palm could likely fix it.

    Screwing with the one at the Sprint store, I can say it does bear out. Switching to 1xRTT makes the software snappy, though not the internets. #palmpixireview

    What is the Pixi even trying to be? Centro replacement/entry level smartphone, sure, but really the Pre should have knocked down to $100. Bingo. The Pre could be the cheap phone which would open up a hole in the line-up for a more professional model. Throw a webOS phone with the Droid's form factor for $150 into the mix and you now have a line-up to compete with everyone. And thus ends my rant on what Palm's doing wrong this time. #palmpixireview

    For those who actually do some research, there is an issue between the EVDO radio and the new Qualcomm chipset that's causing the lagging. Especially when you have an app that uses data services.

    @dcoaster: Additionally, this is how their review unit operates...the one they are suppossed to review. Obviously, Palm hasn't given them a note or warning about the problem, so excuse Gizmodo if they're not reading Pre fansites and taking the rumors on the message boards for fact. #palmpixireview

    @jon.athan: That's understandable. However, if someone comes to look at this review 2 months from now because they want to decide whether to purchase the Pixi, they'll see this outdated information about lag and such and will be misled. Software is always changing with these new mobile OSes and unless the tech site editors don't want to edit their reviews every time software does change, I'd suggest to keep the software out of the picture and focus on the things that won't change, like the acceptable hardware. #palmpixireview

    Ha. At the Sprint Store trying the Pixi and this is the article I find...

    Regarding the stutteriness, this came up today on PreCentral forums today. There's something wrong with the radio programming that makes it trip out. Setting to Evdo or 1x only makes it smooth as butter. I just did it to their display model.

    Glitches suck and this thing has um. The brightness keeps changing too. Hope Giz revisits after an update. #palmpixireview

    @Fractal the Meek: the brightness changing that you're seeing is the ambient light sensor adjusting the display for "proper viewing" a bit annoying on my pre but i deal with it. #palmpixireview

    @victorkruger: Naw, there's another 1.3.1 glitch Pixi users were seeing. It was flickering back and forth more than the Pre was and without cause. Sensor needs re-tweaking. #palmpixireview

    I almost bought this for my wife this past weekend, but she was turned off by the smaller screen and lack of video, and I was turned off by the lag.

    She ended up getting the same phone as me, the Hero. No regrets. The Sprint store stated it was the best selling phone right now and the rep had one himself.

    But yeah, overall the form factor is really nice, and the keyboard did feel good. Just stick a faster processor in there, w/ a slightly better battery. And get that video recording out in WebOS already! #palmpixireview

    The no-wifi kills it for me. Especially if that was a GSM version, I'd need wifi desperately. And the small screen is just yuk. Personally, I don't consider phones with smaller than 3.2" screens anymore (4.3" 1280x720 would be ideal for me in the future). #palmpixireview

    There likely is a bug in the radio chip that causes the pixi hang.

    Maybe palm will be lucky, and it will "only" be a software issue and not a hardware one. However if this depends on qualcom's help, Palm is screwed. #palmpixireview
