This is hilarious? Guys...Can't you see what Palm is trying to do? They are attempting to take a play outta Apple's playbook: "Release the product. Let it build up a ridiculous amount of fervor as it relates to releasing your own apps for it. SLIGHTLY quell the fervor with web apps, which, ultimately, only serve to build it up even higher....THEN release an SDK."

They are attemtpting to building up a community that wants to develop for the Pre BADLY, just like Apple did. Think about it (now that we have the bonus of hindsight), this is EXACTLY what Apple did. It's genius. Assuming that you don't have another 800 lb gorilla in the room just WAITING for you to slip up so it can move so far ahead of you that you can't catch up.....

@TheSonOfKrypton: The problem with this, if this is actually what they intend to do, is that there's already competition out there. People are impatient. They run the very real risk of losing customers to other platforms.

Isn't it Summer, in 2 days from now? Late summer is what? Two months? A lot of babies on these tech sites, expecting everything and anything to be out as soon as the damn phone is for retail. Grow up and stop being babies, it's pathetic.

@Jason Chen: While he could have said it better, I do agree that it's not really something to complain about. Some people are making it seem that the SDK is still 6 months from lauch when it's probably anywhere from 1.5-3 months away. Not a lot of time when you're going to be in a 24 month contract.

As a Pre owner, I have to say this is pretty darn disappointing. While I agree that it's better than the iPhone's SDK launch, saying it's better than something that happened years ago doesn't really justify it now. Granted, I love my Pre and wouldn't give it up at this point for anything, but Palm should have learned and had it ready to go at launch to avoid this.
