Didn't you have to look into one of these for that wireframe tank battle game back in the 80's?

I can't believe the industry keeps sinking money into something that always has been and always will be nothing more than a gimmick. 3D sucks. Perhaps (and I'm going way out on a limb here) all of this 3D stuff will eventually lead to a worthwhile product that doesn't require shitty glasses and make viewing without the ability to see it in 3D not suck. Honestly ask yourself if you have ever seen something in 3D that was actually made better by being in 3D besides that 3 seconds of "oh that was kinda cool" when some stupid thing comes out of the screen at you.

@Enigmaaron1: You are behind schedule. The resurrection of 3D in the last two years is exactly because they try to perfect the technology that doesn't require glasses anymore. There are even TVs that do that, without glasses. But they still need another 10 years to mature. But that's where they are going. There's a reason behind this sudden stream of recent 3D movies lately.

@Eugenia: Don't cloud the issue with facts. People get all bent out of shape if you do that here.

@Eugenia: 10 years is 10 lifetimes for technology. If it can't be done in a few years it's not worth doing. Becuase by the time it "matures" the rest of the world has passed you by.

My point is that they should stop trying to go mainstream with something that isn't ready for it yet. They keep dusting off 3D every ten years and it's still not ready. Most TV's can't display in 3D. Think of how hard the digital transition has been, can you imagine trying to get people to go to 3D.

That may be the silliest thing I've read today.

Most intriguing. I realize this is only a concept camera at this point, but I still wonder how they envision that lens system to work. I am guessing it would have to be two indpendent lenses each capturing to individual sensors. If that is the case, then:

    1) Is it a prime lens (meaning, fixed focal length) or zoom?

    2) If it's not a zoom, is it at least an interchangeable lens?

    3) How well can it function without the rest of WALL•E attached?

Stories like this make me kick myself for not attending NAB this year.

Why are both of those lenses clear? Shouldn't one be read and the other blue?

Sounds good...until I hear the words "proprietary P2 flash memory system". Couldn't it have just been 2.5" SATA?

So, if 2 lenses gives you 3-d, would 3 lenses give you the ability to see forward and backwards in time (or maybe to observe looped dimensions)?
