While I think case mods like this are amazing, I always am a little disappointed when I see someone had sponsors or "professional" help. I've been modifying cases for my own computers lately, and everything is being done by me, except for the new WOPR case I'm building, where I needed someone to do vinyl letters for me as they would look horrible for me to do myself. But any metal/plexi cutting, painting, polishing, etc... is done by me. Yeah, they in no way look like the cases you see here, in the way of complexity, but I think they are a little more honest b/c I spend a month+ on them between paint drying and waiting for parts to arrive. Just my 2 cents.
I'm torn. On the one hand, that thing could probably eat my kids. Which I don't have. So this thing could eat my children from the future....
On the other, if I were gonna go that hardcore for a system, I think I'd cut back on the CPU, or maybe drop off one of the GeForce's, and up the storage on that thing. I mean, what does he use it for? What kind of workflow that requires this kind of processing power is satisfied with 240GB of storage space?
@emergeoriginal: But attachments negate the purpose of having a desktop computer in the first place. Plus it will be slower if it's USB-based. Actually the whole discussion of what component to ditch to make room in a case this big illustrates how over the top this machine is..
I'd be slightly more impressed if the desk actually held a computer cooled by liquid through immersion. True, you'd have to abandon the HD's for SSD's, but it would be so much cooler.
Finally...I can run windows pipes screensaver @ 90 frames a second!......In all seriousness I thought the see thru case and blue lights look died back in the 90's
@Fourthletter: Incorrect btw, even liquid cooled systems should have some air flow over the north and/or southbridge. And as Drakino points out, the radiators have fans as well.
@AtConsumeristPanel_GitEmSteveD...: Mineral Oil is non-conductive, the HDD would have no problem at all. The PSU fan would be fine, and if you have a GPU modified to be able to be liquid-cooled, there's no problem there, either.
@GrinningKestrel: I wasn't talking about conductivity. You will be getting oil INTO the HDD through it's pressure equalizing vent, which is not good, as they are NOT designed to be running in an environment where they meet resistance, which oil would present. Also, as the oil slowly enters, the heads splashing into it would create bubbles, also not good for a sensitive piece of equipment. As for the PSU and GPU, if they have fans, fans are not meant to run in conditions where there is constantly heavier than normal resistance. This will burn them out, which is not good, so you would need to remove them, and some computers/PSU/GPUs will throw errors if a fan isn't present.
@AtConsumeristPanel_GitEmSteveD...: I've seen computers modded in such a fashion, it's why I brought it up. You could always create a bay with your harddrives that was separate from the rest of the computer. That way, if one fried or you wanted to swap them out, it would be really easy. As for GPU and PSU fans, you could always isolate them. Plus, I'm sure you could find people who have the know how to trick the card and PSU into thinking the fan is there when it's gone.
@EqualOpportunityCrasher: The answer is an SSD. SSD's don't have a vent hole, so they would work perfect. From what i understand, it's the passthroughs for all the cables that are a pain.

What kind of high end machine these days doesn't have a floppy drive? How else are you supposed to load Wolfenstein 3D for proper benchmarking?!

36.6? please - if you were hardcore you'd be rocking 56k. noob.

Or, it's just for the "wow" factor.

i have two laptops and two desktops and the max in any of them is 320gb, though i have a couple buffalo backup drives to store everything in.

Seems kinda silly if you end up having to walk across the room every time you need a pen, stapler, paperclip, notecard, blank cd, etc...
