supposedly, black is less eye-catching. supposedly. and that can, supposedly help with candids and street shooting and anything where you don't want everyone to turn and look at your camera.
i say "supposedly" because, well, when your camera's a big pro camera with a huge lens on it, it's like a drop in the ocean. it's sort of ironic, then, that the smaller amateur cameras in the past have tended to be silver and the pros black...

You are correct, black tends to be less noticeable than silver or any other colour.
Once you go black, you never go back ... to silver.
