@Pepper: I hated it... I'm a graphics/art professional, so I've got a big-ass screen, I didn't need things sliding and moving around wasting time and resources (PS is needlessly bloated already).
I know the option to disable it exists, but again, they screwed it up and it doesn't remain consistant or behave normally afterward and causes more problems.
Adobe didn't just screw the pooch on this one, they fucked it to death, over and over.
@The_Gas_Man: The problem is, this behavior is not consistent. Disabling them leads to other tab-related interface wonkiness.
Adobe screwed up with CS3 interface IMO, and it basically rendered most of the apps useless to me. The Photoshop UI alone is a massive, glitchy resource hog and the program has become bloatware, sadly. I was hoping they'd tidy things up in CS4, but it's only gotten worse and driven me to other competing products. (This is to say nothing of their intrusive, buggy and ineffectual antipiracy measures...)
I'm used to PS, and I will say it's nice when you switch versions and things are in generally the same place. I've tried GIMP, and while I like it, I find their tool bar different that PS's, and makes me work to find things.
Big fan of the Office 2007 Ribbon here. I first got ahold of it at work, and liked it so much I upgraded my Office 2003 pro home copy to Office 2007... didn't go pro though.

Now.....I wonder if I can score a good price as a student. Hmmm.
Torrenting is not an option, as it sucks ass on a stick.
