if this becomes main stream they may have to rewrite laws regarding protection afforded to debit cards. right now you are not liable for any amount charged to a credit card, but debit cards carry a small amount of liability if fraud is perpetrated through a PIN based transaction. something around $50 bucks.

Retinal scan anyone? How about retinal scan + prostate for men, this has the added benefit of multiple screenings throughout the year and it should discourage 1/2 the population from using ATMs in the first place.

Oh damn, you mean somebody might steal that extra 30$ that I leave sitting around in my checking account? Ha ha ha, way to risk Federal Penitentiary, dipshits.

@Shamoononon thanks Rocephin: What if someone draws more than $30? Banks let you do that because they can then hit you with an overdraft fee, which is usually just a flat fee but could be a flag fee + some percentage of the amount you withdrew that was past your balance amount.

@Usama: It won't let you do that with banks who runs their own ATM hosting switch. Now if they have someone else hosting for them, and the bank goes offline, then yeah, you could probably go up to $300 bucks.

@se7a7n7: Given you would only use this for online purchases, it might not get worn down that much. Plus, they have to guess the order. If you have a system that locks them out/puts a hold on the card after 3 guesses, it could be pretty good.

Well, if you can remember your bank account number, or your ING customer number, you should be fine. This concept is pretty interesting, though it would suck to need to use your credit card in an emergency, and find that your battery finally went out.

@Kaiser-Machead's Cookie-Powered LEGO Machine: I remember my bank account number, and my ING number. But whenever I try to remember another number, I push another one out. Now what was the combo to the safe again?

@mrtallbones: It's an old bank safe, and even with the combo, it takes ahile b/c you have to get the turning pattern right. Or was that left?
