Think of the outrage when the first rice cooker was introduced in China!

Considering robots make computers, cars, and ice cream, why is it so hard to believe a robot can replicate a routine that a guy in a pizza shop has been repeating for the past 3 decades?

I wonder about the heat source though. Maybe they should have used gamma ray bursts.

i like finding those pizzerias with a guy named dominick working. i usually get a hook up when i tell him my name is dominick too. this allow applies to asian restaurants. asians love other asians. i don't think the machine will make me feel special and that is what i truly need in life. will someone hold me?

We had a machine at one of the colleges I went to that made french/Freedom fries. For the whole summer it was "out of order", and we would sit in front of it during breaks wondering what the fries would taste like. One day the machine was "in order". I was the test subject and got an order of fries. Sadly, they tasted better when we didn't know what they tasted like. For irony, it was located right next to the ice cream vending machine.

Wow...i can honestly say im somewhat impressed with this "invention". I like the idea, not sure how healthy the infrared rays are to the food...or the taste...but im impressed in that highschool science project that was cool kinda way.

@therealjjohnson: Uh, they are heat lamps. Anywhere you have seen a heat lamp, BAM, those are infrared. Also, 49% of the Earth's heat comes from Infrared.

Old-fashioned "no-name" pizzerias will always fill a niche that the big chains and automated thingamabobs just can't fill. I don't want a goddamn machine pizza. If I was going to buy pre-made factory-like Pizza, I can just go to the supermarket and get a Tombstone and stick it in the oven. If I'm going to bother to step outside, I want a pizza made by a person who can liberally add the toppings I like. Unless the machine can kneed dough with hammy fists, spew curses in Italian/bad English, serve spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna/garlic knots alongside my slice or pie, then there's no real competition.

People who want DiFara's, will go to DiFara's. Fuckin machines!

@Kaiser 'Overlord' Machead: Completely agree with you man, I live in New York , and have never understood those people who go to Domino's or Pizza Hut. Why the hell would you eat a pizza with a cardboard crust, when some of the best pizza in the world is available on almost any corner?
