On an unrelated note, I played with a "plasma cutter" around 10 years ago - it seemed to be a little bit like an arc welder, but instead of melting its own electrode, it had a reusable tip that blew filtered shop air through it to clear molten metal from the cutting site. It was incredibly easy to use - kind of like a felt marker, and about as accurate, but instead of simply marking, it would leave a clean 1-2mm channel cut out of sheet metal. Fun stuff! I can't vouch if it truly generated plasma or not though.

Well, if we compare it to what a pool toy can do and 5 hours in the ER, I think I'll take the blowtorch. Of course, there's two less teeth for me to worry about now...
