I call "exaggeration" too. OTOH I am sure that it will project an 80 inch image, in total darkness, which will of course be totally unviewable. But hey, it's 80 inches!
ok small screen looks so crisp its the same in proportion to a 1080i screen of its size comparison. its sharper than my iphone!
and in talks with distributors for 2 main parts that make it so pricey(not as high as rod.com $999.00) if all goes well .Price change...$209.95 any style!
amagrafix? wtf? Someone needs to tell this guy about a MEMORABLE web site name, and the fact that no one says w w w anymore, I think the trekies know about the internet.
Add a webcam, and you have me sold Brando. Give me one, and I'll do ads for you/shave your name into my chest/back hair and walk around the house topless.
i have an old library of hunderds of movies in divx and xvid formats i collected in college. right now they are all on CD because drives just weren't that big back then. i think it's time to put everything back on a HDD and find a solution like this one. $80 ain't bad.
The more and more I read about the zunes really makes me want to check it out, and the price cut makes them even more tempting. Alas since I have a mac I'm SOL.
@Thats Dr Bear to You: Run Windows on Boot Camp. The argument "But I have a Mac" is getting kind of old. Wasn't one of the Mac's touted features the ability to run Windows? Anyway, if you're willing to leave the Windows world, don't be expecting everything you once knew to be available on OS X.
@quikboy: On the other hand, Microsoft would do well to make sure that its consumer electronics work on more than just its own operating system, especially when we'd be talking about compatibility between these and one of the more popular mobile computing platforms (Mac laptops). Granted, a lot of Mac users would probably not look at a Zune, but these sorts of assumptions are not what I'd really call wise.
@quikboy: Yes, Mac users should buy a 100$ piece of software to save ten bucks on a Zune. I was looking at Zune's before I bought my latest ipod specifically because they offer superior sound quality but I hate Windows and I will do just about anything not to have to use it and that includes buying another iPod despite wanting a Zune. Mac laptops are insanely popular nowadays and it's just lazy on Microsoft's part not to support Macs. If I remember correctly, almost 20% of computers sold these days are Macs so they're cutting out quite a few people.
@Tiger-Fever: well they did spend about 400$ more than they needed to for their hardware+apple logo. and they should know what they are getting into when they bought something with 10% marketshare.
@natenovs: This is not about poor Mac users wanting a Zune. This is about Microsoft trying to sell a product that's clearly not the market leader and failing to introduce it to what 20% of people are buying nowadays. Mac users pay the so-called 400$ Mac premium because they'd rather give up some of their money then use Windows. I'm one of those users. Since Microsoft is clearly trying to gain some market share here, they're the ones that need to change. Apple's doing just fine, in fact, they're showing increases in every division every quarter.
@Tiger-Fever: Insanely popular? So are a bunch of other brands. Apple computers just get more hype for their looks and infusion into almost all things media. I'm not dissing Macs either, but I never felt the reason of actually paying for one, when I can find a better solution elsewhere.
Maybe there's other reasons why Microsoft doesn't have direct OS X support. Maybe the Zune software relies on a lot of Windows components, just like the iTunes software on Macs relies on some integration from OS X components. Maybe fixing up the Zune software to fit the OS X UI Scheme is too difficult and would mean a lot of ugliness in the OS X version. Or maybe it's because Microsoft assumes that if Boot Camp is so widely touted, then it should be utilized.
It's not just Microsoft. A lot of companies make stuff for Windows only, just as there are some companies that are more Mac only. That's how life is. Mac users have the best of both worlds, right? You don't often see PC users needing to port OS X over to the PC to work with a particular program, do you? Most people are satisfied with what the OS already offers, and if they needed to get a special program to run OS X, they could just buy a Mac (though there are many alternatives that are much cheaper).
Who knows? Maybe Microsoft will create an Zune client for OS X. Until then, feel free to use Boot Camp to run Windows and get the best of both worlds just as Apple advertises.
@quikboy: Wow, that had absolutely nothing to do with what I said. And yes, Macbooks are insanely popular. Call them hyped up as much as you want, doesn't change the fact that they are, and they are selling better than theirr comparative Window counterparts.
Once again, Zune is not a popular platform. Microsoft is not at the top of the world with their MP3 player. Stop attacking Mac owners and realize that if Microsoft actually wants a larger market share they're go after every user they possibly could. But really, nice try changing this around. It's not up to the end user to go out of their way to use something, installing Windows on bootcamp is considered going out of my way, it's up to the company selling the product to make it as widespread and easily accessible as possible.
Perfect now come up with a cheaper flash based competitor for the Ipod Shuffle/Ipod Touch and you really start to kick Apple right in the nuts. Don't get me wrong the Ipods are fine devices but competition is always good.
@RobSchoenfeld: I don't think the Zune will ever be big enough to reach Apple's nuts. Up to now, they might tickle Apple's feet a bit, but I doubt Apple will feel it at all.
I just bought a refurbished e260 on eBay a couple of weeks ago for mobile party music purposes, and it's a pretty nifty little player. I just got around to installing Rockbox, so we'll see how much more awesome that makes it (especially when I get a 4 or 8GB microSDHC card to make sure I have all my Christmas music...)
@macslut: And for $0 more you can completely miss the point of having a very small device that plays MP3s and radio. Because everyone needs video when they go jogging right?

This needs a jog-dial, the clicking looks really awkward.
Who on Earth would read e-books on a 2.8" screen?
The LED setup is neat, but less is more sometimes. A dimmer would do a lot for those LEDs.

Warning - the e200 doesn't support SDHC (Although i've heard rockbox can deal with it, technically, but i haven't confirmed)
ALSO - using the player with a microSD card GREATLY INCREASES DATABASE REFRESH TIMES AND ALSO AFFECTS BATTERY LIFE!
I think it has to do a database refresh EVERY TIME you boot up if you use a card as well.
