@Nick Livingston: It didn't... until you mentioned the awesomest mongoose in history.

Now I can't shake Rikki-Tikki-Tavi whenever I see the title here.

Heart click for making the memories of one of my two favorite childhood tales rush back.

In spite of the fact that those kids were probably paid good money to do the ads for this thing, someone should slap them for not taking one look at the product and then stalking off the set in laughter.

In reply to New Apple Patent Prevents You From Screwing With the Hardware
We take stuff apart all day long...we don't go all whiny about having just voided the warranty and no longer being able to get support.

Did we let some "security screws" stop us from taking apart a $3500 espresso machine? NO!

Folks...crack and hack away! That is the best part about owning stuff! All Apple is saying is "you opened it, YOU fix it."

Noted and we are OK with that.

Yet another "lock down" from Apple. One of the biggest reasons I switched to the Droid from the iPhone; tired of not being able to do anything to my device without fear of voiding the warranty.

@metaluna21: That is the great thing about competition! Vote with your wallet.

Lot's of folks are happy with systems that are more open.. PCs are clearly more "open". Of course, there are "costs" to both approaches.

@RainyDayInterns: Linux machines are even more open than PCs, and have no financial cost other than the hardware. The price you pay is the patience to become knowledgeable enough to get certain services and devices working.

Not everyone wants or needs to know how things work. Some just want it to work so they can use it.
