My specific thought about Natal is that, while it's a great and novel idea, most people would rather sit completely still while gaming and/or computing.

I work 10 hours a day in front of a computer as is, so I certainly do not look forward to a day where I might wave my arms and legs in front of a computer for 10 hours a day.

The same is true of gaming for lazy slobs like myself. My ideal gaming experience involves me sitting completely motionless and slack-jawed in front of my TV.

And there you go. You now have Gates admitting that the technology is of course NOT just for gaming, and should thus be avoided at all costs. Are you people THAT dumb, that you'd allow a biometric scanner in your house, connected to Microsoft Live, and phoning home the physical details of your life and home?!?! You sick psychos need to wake up and protect yourselves from this!!!!

Project Natal is really building itself up to be the first real MS Surface killer. Everyone loves their big-ass tables, but once they see this, they won't go back.

@dallasmay2: I think they can coexist, it seems there are two different target audiences from the promotional videos. Natal seems to be more for home use to control your xbox (and eventually maybe TV/PC/other electronics). As for Surface, it seems to work best in social settings as a piece of furniture (i.e. table) that just sits there and happens to have these cool features which you can use to put your camera on and up/download pictures and play simple games etc.

@Purple Monkey Dishwasher: I don't know. The MS Surface is amazing. It's so versatile. Remember how people lined up at the doors on its release day for hours? Think about the huge developer community that has built up around it. You see them everywhere now, it's quite a phenomenon. I just don't see how MS could possibly bring about a second act even half as good as Surface.

No, the real reason is that Bill Gates and Microsoft are government fronts, and this will be used to body scan you, which makes it easier for the blimps to find you. That's why these record and transmit data even when not plugged in! The body scans will also let the Terminators/guided missles identify you as the correct target.

Or so the Velo-stat Hat crowd thinks/says.
