Sony pretty much implied that backward compatibility was dead when they released the PS3 Slim (without PS2 support), but just in case, Sony's John Koller put a few nails in that coffin during two recent interviews. More »Use Sony's DualShock on the Nintendo Wii, Then Giggle Like a Super Villain
Why buy Nintendo's fancy Wii Classic Controller or humiliatingly turn the Wiimote sideways when your old PS/PS2 controllers are perfectly fine? For gamers well-versed in the antics of former attorney Jack Thompson, this PS2 casemod found over at Kotaku has to be all sorts of Schadenfreude. [Kotaku]'Casetation' Mod Is Defeated By Me Putting PS2 In Bag, Attaching It to Bigger TV
Recently, I defeated my arch nemesis, the $250 briefcase-bound Casetation 2. It took a $99 PS2 (super power: price cuts), duffel bag, and connecting to any TV, because they're everywhere. $151 left over. Flawless Victory. More »The PlayStation 2 Drops to $100 for April Fools

Tupperware Arcade Stick Throws Hadoukens, Totes Sammiches
Can't afford Mad Catz's ridiculous Tournament Edition SFIV FightStick? Just build your own out of cheap fake Tupperware. Plus, it'll tote a sammich over to your friend's house, though I'd avoid tuna salad. [TechEBlog]Sony Patent Teases Power Ring LED Wiimotes

A Forensic Account of What Really Killed the Sega Dreamcast
Eurogamer has an enjoyable, relatively compact "forensic" detailing just why the Sega Dreamcast, a console years ahead of its time, failed. They argue that it wasn't Sony who defeated Sega; it was Sega. More »PlayStation Cases, The Tools of International Espionage

PS2 Gets 1:1 Swordfighting Game Using EyeToy
It looks like the PS2 is going to beat the Wii MotionPlus to market in delivering one-to-one swordfighting. It's using the EyeToy—the camera peripheral released in 2003—to map your motions with a toy sword onto actions taking place on the screen. You'll get "first person gameplay" where "you are the hero of the game," and from the cartoony screenshots, it doesn't seem too bad. Hmmmm. One-to-one swordfighting might be used pretty well in another industry, if you know what I mean. [Dark Zero via Kotaku]Guitar Hero and Rock Band Controller Mod For Finicky Fingers
