    It says that it's coming on Aug. 24th. I think that means that it will be announced on that date or do you guys think it will actually ship on that date?

    I'm not holding out any hope of it being backwards compatible.

    @Pamerica: They are trying to get people who are complete idiots with that Free PSN membership.

    Just because it has a blu-ray player built in still doesnt justify to me buying it, it never has. To me DVD's still look amazing, so I do not see the justification for spending 2-3 times more on a movie that cost 9.50 to see initially, and 13.00 on a format that still looks amazing. So what if it is a bit blurry on an HDtv, upscale DVD players are like 20 bucks at walmart now aday.

    Also in my trials with the system the Dual Shock controller is still as uncomfortable as ever.

    Though I can almost justify getting one at this price, until they have a catalog of games that is comparable to 360, it doesn't matter what minor advantages it might have over it.

    Maybe people will finally take to buying the damn system now. At the same price as the soon to be dropped 360 Elite, people are getting way more bang for their buck with the PS3, now more than ever!

    @jmeltzer: How so? I've never been interested in a PS3, because I don't see that it provides me anything over a 360.... but this news semi-interests me... I just need a reason to buy it and I can't figure any out.

    @PMD: Probably the same or very similar? Doesn't Sony usually just make it slimmer and cheaper without changing anything else?
