They're the script-kiddies of modding.
Go online -
Pester people about the amount of power in device -
pester more people about the brightest LEDs -
find LED power calculator -
Brag incessantly about your nigh unusable device.
*sigh*

Some of the issues there are really incredible. For example, 1GB game downloads, but only a 802.11b wireless connection!?

If someone has gone to the trouble (and voided the warranty) of opening the thing up, it would seem worthwhile doing a little more than just wiring up some LEDs!
It qualifies as a mod about as much as sticking rhinestones to the case.
10/04/09
You say its not much more of a mod than putting rhinestones? Well I think you voided your own argument in the paragraph prior to that one. He actually had to wire the LEDs up, find room for them, cut holes in the damn thing.

A:) You have buttons on the PSP Go. End of discussion. But no! It isn't over, apple fanbois!
B.) An outdated long term cost of ownership quote from an article on some web page:
"
$599 iPhone x 8% sales tax ($47.92) = $646.92
$60 required cellular plan + $5 (taxes & fees) x 24 months = $1560
Total cost: $2,206.92.
"
For two grand I can buy myself a different PSP Go for every day of the week, and seven unique copies of seven games for each day. And guess what? This is before the December price drop which will surely happen. This is launch price of $245 per PSP.

No, it shouldn't be a PSP. It should be Sony's answer to the iPod Touch and the Zune HD - that way it's more in line with what people expect.
But call it a PSP and now it fairs worse. It's not a PSP. It's a media player that has an app store as well (that sells PSP-ish games, but no real apps...).

On a realated topic as for why the PSPgo has alot more potential for traditional games that the iPhone doesn't...
It has buttons!
Multitouch is great but there are ALOT of things you can't do with touch alone. If you're not a hardcore gamer you may not understand why you need buttons in a game and this Apples v Oranges argument seems valid. But anybody who plays games knows better. Even the Wii focusing on motion sensing still has tons of buttons and joysticks built in.
People need to quit comparing the iPhone to actual gaming consoles.

Or maybe give homebrewers an incentive to be somewhat legit devs and make some money? The PSP devkit prices are being slashed heavily as well.

But if you'll remember, when the iPhone App Store first opened, there was a lot of overpriced crap. Once more established game studios figured out that they couldn't charge $20 for something that wasn't any more fun than someone else's $1 clever little game, they had to reduce the prices. Maybe that'll start happening in the PSP store after awhile.

I mean honestly, the point of the PSPgo is to play, oh I dunno, PSP games?
But sure let's bash on a system for titles that just so happen to be on everyone's favorite holy grail of technology.
When Gran Turismo comes out for the iPhone you can give me a buzz, until then I'd quit complaining about crappy apps you can play for FREE on thousands of other platforms.

What about about the iPod Touch that can play all those same games without all the superfluous crap you just mentioned?
