Cool-er eBook Reader Review
The Gadget: The Cool-er, a lower (compared to the Kindle) priced eBook reader that lacks built-in wireless functionality and a hardware keyboard, but adds music, an SD card slot and PDF/MP3 support. But of course, the lower price is the big draw. More » -

BoomCooler: A Portable Party in an Ice Box
Throw in a cooler, some speakers and mix with a little hillbilly inspiration and you have yourself a BoomCooler. Billed as "the ultimate portable entertainment system," the BoomCooler makes it easy to roll your tunes from one party to the next thanks to some fancy wheels and a handle. It also cranks out a decent amount of sound with two Sony Xplod 6” x 9” 240-watt max 4-way speakers, a 1100-watt max 10” subwoofer and a 4-channel 600-watt amp. It is also iPod, Sirius radio, MP3, CD and AM/FM radio ready. But, the question is, can it hold your beer? Unfortunately, no. The BoomCooler's storage space is limited to dry goods only. Pfft...if my $900 doesn't involve getting drunk it is not worth spending. [BoomCooler via Uncrate] -

Veuve Globalight Cools Your Champagne, Gives Romantic Glow Too
Designer Karim Rashid has turned out this multifunction champagne cooler just in time for the upcoming Milan Design Fair, and we have to admit it's rather beautiful. Produced in collaboration with Veuve Clicquot, the Globalight is supposed to keep your champers chilled for two hours and also sheds a halo of pink light: sitting on stepping stones in the middle of a lake is optional. Why that pink light, though? Might have a romantic impact on a special evening, perhaps. It'll certainly have an impact on your wallet: it's a 500-piece limited edition and costs $4,000. Cooler Scoop Prevents Ice Hands
You know how you get the Han Solo shivers after you shove your arm into a cooler to find the last beer in a sea of Diet Pepsis? What you need is the cooler scoop, a scoop that proxys for your arm in order to dig out a drink without freezing to death. The only problems we could potentially have with this are the relatively short handle and the fact that the scoop only holds one, which means multiple trips are necessary—unlike the fishing net strategy we were picturing.
