It's expensive at $340, natch. [Boing Boing Gadgets]

<![CDATA[Nerdbait: Modette's Purse Has All the Fixings for Some Classic Gaming Built In]]> Thanks to modder Jeri Ellsworth's creation, nerds everywhere finally understand the purpose of the purse. Hers has a built-in LCD and two velcro-on NES controllers for some on-the-go Super Mario Bros.

The guts of the purse are made from one of those system-on-a-chip deals that modders worldwide are so fond of, and the screen is just taken from a portable DVD player. The purse is evidently still capable of holding some ladyitems, but it's clear that it's main function is busting out some old-school NES action. Check out the video below for a little illustration. <![CDATA[Light Bags LoJack Your Handbag With GPS]]> Get a load of this racket. A company called Marilyn Light Bag has developed a series of purses equipped with a GPS tracker in the event that it is lost or stolen. A device, the product page claims, can not be deactivated by a thief. The real kicker here is that the first two months of GPS monitoring are free, with a $15 charge for each month thereafter. So, essentially you are paying for your purse in perpetuity—all in the hopes that you might be able to recover the bag if it should ever vanish (but the contents may be another story). Prices start at $30. [Lightsbag via Shiny Shiny via Popgadget via Ubergizmo]

<![CDATA[Is It A GirlPurse? Is It A ManBag? No, Silly, It's an Urban Performer Unit]]> Hello, I'm a sexy lady who has been Swarovski-encrusted by my PR people in order to publicize something called the Urban Performer Unit. It's basically a handbag with a little pocket for your iPod which enables you to control your music from the outside of your bag. Nice idea, don't you think? There is, however, one slightly disturbing thing about this Austrian-designed purse:

upu_picture_01.jpgIt's unisex. Yes, all you rugged and slightly dishevelled types (NutBastard, I mean you) fear no more about being an outmoded man in a metrosexual world, for you too can pick up the Urban Performer Unit. Pick It Up, I said, and you will be transformed into a rhinestone cowboy in an instant.

upu_picture_10.jpgThis is my favorite picture. Look! He's using his ManBag to play a geetar riff for RockBand, with nary a bead of sweat to disturb the Swarovski swoosh on his face. I think I'd like to see him use his mascara wand as a drumstick, and tackle Doncha Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me.

upu_picture_09.jpgThis is what the Urban Performer Unit looks like from the inside. There's also room for your other gadgets, like PDA, cellphone, Hadron Collider and so on and so forth. Available in time for Christmas, the black leather purse is priced at just under $520. And perhaps you should know that it's made by a company called Urban Tools. For tools, presumably. <![CDATA[Persuader Gun Purse Has You By The Balls]]> Men, we have been defeated. After years of struggle, battling for a simpler life with less purses to trip over, women have struck at our weakest point—our insatiable desire for gals holding guns in their underpants (bonus, full NSFW gallery after the jump).

Oh, but the other side has had such technologies for years, you say? Not in purse form, my friends. Not in purse form. The Persuader is a gun-shaped purse that will destroy all arguments against your wife's purchase of more purses. It will be the easiest $289 you've spent on leather...at least since those chaps we're not telling anyone about. [product via boingboing]

<![CDATA[USB Purse Allows Women to Lose Stuff Digitally]]> Misogynistic headline aside, this USB purse design from Russian designer Dima Domissarov is probably the female equivalent of all the weird food-shaped USB sticks we saw in April. Instead of burgers, hotdogs and bread, these USB drives are shaped like miniature flea-market purses.

Plus, they added the expands-when-full feature found in the USB flashbag drive as well. Definitely cool, but we'd prefer a wallet version instead.

There is an internal built-in USB port for charging your cell phone or other favorite mobile devices without the need for carrying around all those pesky chargers.

Designed by Joe Hynek, a student at Iowa State University, the Power Purse will be available soon through Solarjo. The estimated cost is $300, but hey—no one ever said cutting edge fashion was cheap.

<![CDATA[Esquire Handbag Reacts to Ringing Cellphone]]> This one is for you, ladies (or purse-carrying men). The cellphone is placed within a small pocket inside the purse, upon receiving a phone call (via ringing or vibrating) the purse will recognize it and begin flashing its red LED and vibrating itself to ensure that you don't miss that call from your long lost lover. AVING is calling this the weirdest product of the year, but besides the ugliness, it seems pretty convenient and useful.

<![CDATA[RFID Enabled Purse]]> The classy broads over at Simon Fraser U in Canada have come up with a purse to keep forgetful dames from leaving the house without their important items — cellphone, keys, wallet, iPod, lipstick, or anything they choose. The purse works by having an RFID reader inside that knows when each item is inserted by its RFID tag. If something's not there, the light on the outside shows an outline of the item. Husbands and boyfriends everywhere rejoice.

<![CDATA[Vibrating Purse Leaves No Doubt: Incoming Cellphone Call]]> Here's a purse from Esquire that solves a big problem: missing phone calls because you didn't hear or feel your cellphone ringing. It reportedly stirs up enough ruckus to make you think there's a jackhammer jumping around inside that purse, and if you somehow don't feel that, there is a blinking light that also notifies you of an incoming call.

It's not entirely clear how your cellphone communicates with this bag, but it looks like a great way to be sure you don't miss any calls. This could be especially useful with many of the newer cellphones, whose vibrate mode is about as jarring as the flapping wings of a butterfly. Too bad the purse is rather fugly, but this just a matter of personal taste. No word about availability or pricing, or if the purse comes in other styles.
