@Kaiser-Machead: Nah, yours was not too subtle. When I typed mine, the screen had been open for a minute or two, and yours had not posted. Should have hit F5.
alright instead of ppl in 3rd world countries needing this how about ppl in our own without insurance. this guy is running this machine 4 times for something useless wen he couldve been doing it for 4 ppl that actually needed it. and this just shows that its a scam how much it costs for a CAT scam or MRI wen all they do is press a button to run something they already have (not like they have to go buy a new one). and another reason shit like that costs so much is because insurance companies will pay those high bills so they just jack up costs cuz they kno theyre going to get the money neways. damn
@slyman928: You also need someone to read the scan. I used to run an Xray machine at my last job. The machine can only do what you ask it to do. It can't read the results. Also, when dealing with people who move and breathe, you need to deal with things like contrast solutions, proper settings, etc... vs. putting something inanimate in there.
they are actually always using power, the magnet inside the thing is always on and they have to use liquid helium to keep it just above absolute zero degrees, so there is always a ton of power being used to pump the fluid and keep the magnets cool.
but at the same time when they really fire it up they sent a lot of power through those super-cold magnets, so all in all its a power waster.... but still a very great piece of technology
I hate to be a buzz kill. But poor people in 3rd world countries cant even afford to get a CT Scan coz it cost too expensive to get a scan. I hope that NYC radiologist wont get into trouble when his boss discovers he's been toying around a very expensive piece of medical equipment.
@Chris Bautista: Any clever poor patient can easily workaround this affordability issue to get all the CT scans they need. Clearly, all they would need to do is march into a NYC radiological facility and boldy state, "I believe I have a Filet O' Fish lodged in my brain." Done.

What are they made out of? It'd have to be foam lead (if this is a CAT) or foam.. err.. foam (if it's an MRI).
