I am considering giving an Aspire one (NOT this Radio Shack model)to my 11 years old daugther.
She will use for basic homework, browsing and play flash games.
Do you recommend this machine?
Thanks for the input.

Known for good keyboard but so-so battery life. Two SD slots is cool too.
Good screen, good build quality.
Difficult to upgrade, so get the max RAM if you can.

So how much does AT&T "officially" charge of say, an iPhone? (we'll also just ignore the two years of service you're also paying for, since it's convenient to do so in this case.)
Are the two pricing situations that different?

and if you decide you want a mobile hotspot for it, you still have to pay a good amount on the service if you use one of those USB dongles, as well as the dongle itself, subsidized for the plan of course.
If you think you'd use this 3G connectivity all the time, this is actually not too bad a deal, unless AT&T is really that horrible to use for data on a laptop. This thing may be underpowered, but is a heck of a lot more powerful than any cell phone to view the internet with on the go.
