    OK, look, this was all covered in canon way back in the TNG days. He survives because:


    Fate protects fools, little children, and ships named Enterprise.

    As Kirk is a little child, he is protected. Since it's also his fate to command the Enterprise, he is doubly so protected. So what you don't see is fate interceding and allowing Kirk to partially phase his clothes through the existing rocks/dirt, which slowed him down and kept him stuck to the wall.


    ::mumbles to self:: I mean, a whole web site full of geeks and nerds, and I'm the only one who remembers this line. What's this world coming to.

    I don't mean to come off as some arrogant, elitist, know-it-all, self-indulgent, Kirk-like, pedantic ass...


    but you don't capitalize "newtons" as a unit of measurement. The S.I. rules are pretty clear about this, because it is a so-called "derived unit." The abbreviation is "N"; but when written, to be correct, it's "newtons."


    OK! Whew. Glad I got that off my chest. Clearly... one of my pet peeves.

    Dude, if Harold (aka Hikaru Sulu) was totally driving that car, he'd so take it to White Castle and being a stupid kid that doesn't know about physics as much as I don't know about Star Trek seeing as how I just checked IMDB for the cast and saw John Cho as the character and made the connection with White Castle along with writing this one big run-on sentence.

    Am I the only person in the world annoyed at how the boy seems to be connected to hold on to the cliff with his belly, not his arms or legs? He hangs from the cliff, but not by his arms or legs, since they are moving about with no real purpose. The only thing connecting him to the cliff wall is his belly. I cannot understand how they let a failed clip like that into a trailer.

    If he really was a physist he wouldn't using a formula based on friction because it's too hard to do, he should have used a work around for it, like all normal physist.
    And he should use the metric system like the rest of the world.
