”Review: Livescribe Pulse Digital Pen/Recorder (Verdict: It's Good for Notetakers)
The Gadget: The Livescribe Pulse Digital Smartpen records your notes two ways: it creates digital copies of everything you write by hand while recording audio at the same time. It also goes one step further and links the two together, so you can quickly access audio by tapping parts of your notes. All of this is uploaded to your computer where the Livescribe software archives and makes your notes fully searchable. In addition, it offers features like a calculator, translator, and a paper piano that plays a mini piano you draw on paper.More »

Canon HV30 Camcorder Gets Reviewed by CamcorderInfo
CamcorderInfo got its hands on the HV30 camcorder; Canon's updated version of last year's prizewinning HV20 and offers up an in-depth review. Panasonic to Ship First Blu-ray Hybrid Recorders
While Sony talked about shipping a Blu-ray recorder with no release date announced, Panasonic actually shows us the first Blu-ray hybrid recorders, its DMR-BW200 and DMR-BR100. They're called hybrid because they combine hard drive recording with Blu-ray single- and dual-layer disc recording capabilities (DVD recording, too, if that matters any more). The higher-end BW200 packs a 500GB hard drive, two digital tuners and one analog tuner. The lower-end BR100 has a 200GB hard drive and a single digital/analog tuner. More »

Sony Announces Blu-ray Recorder, Due Soon
Sony recently announced that it plans to release a fully functional Blu-ray recorder in Japan by the end of the year. It won't be the first such Blu-ray recorder released by the company (the BDZ-S77 was released in 2003 but couldn't play commercial Blu-ray discs and could only record onto discs enclosed inside cartridges; that's it up above), but this yet-unnamed recorder will actually be useful: it'll record onto normal, 25GB or 50GB non-cartridge Blu-ray discs and it'll play back commercial Blu-ray discs no problem. Good for Sony, making their Blu-ray players actually play Blu-ray content. More »

Sony Launches HDD-Based, DVD DL-Friendly Media Recorders
When not busy totally messing up the launch of the PS3, Sony devotes some time to releasing some decent electronics, like their latest line of of media recorders, including the RDZ-D900A, the RDZ-D800 and the RDZ-D700. All three recorders feature a hard drive for storing recorded content (the former two have a 400GB hard drive, while the latter has a 250GB hard drive) and can burn onto DL DVDs. The primary difference between the three of them is that the RDZ-900A features an HDMI port, and an iLink DV connector, so you can hook your video camera up to it. Additionally, the RDZ-900A can interact with the PSP and supports MPEG-4. Why they all can't do that is beyond me, but Sony hasn't exactly been on the ball lately. More »

Sanyo Announces Two MP3 Voice Recorders
Sanyo has introduced the latest additions to its Diply line of voice recorders, and both have a rather odd look with their stalk-like external microphones attached up top.
