    @frigg: You know on navy ships they evaporate sea water to make fresh water right? They then have to add stuff back into the pure water because otherwise it A) Tastes awful and B) Will give you explosive diareha as it rips its way straight through your body. Human Beings are not designed to live on 100% Pure H20

    @Russell Lynn: I don't think what's produced by this machine is 100% pure, rather "chemically." I've seen the expressions of people who've drunk the water, and it's like their face scrunches up to let you know that they've just ingested something gross.

    We are all drinking water that use to be Dinosaur piss and other things. Nothing super wow here. Water isn't pure in the sense of never being used, unless it is from and underground well or lake where nothing has touched it. This is cool, but many think recycling urine is nasty but it has been done since the dawn of time and continues until now.

    @sandmanfvrreturns: The significance is not that they are drinking recycled water, but the method through which the water is recycled. It's some sort of weird space centrifuge thing.

    Scientifically, I'm impressed.


    Otherwise, not so much. Considering the tales of shipwrecks and arctic exploration which went past drinking urine to cannibalism and blood drinking, I say "meh".


    Let me know when a Mercury capsule splashes down with an emaciated astronaut and 6 well-gnawed skeletons. Then, I'll be impressed.
