    Funny thing is, it does not look very different from the 300 baud modem my dad used to work from home when I was a kid (thinking very late 70s or early 80s) - so that means it remained the same and useful for at least 15 years. Can you imagine that today - does anyone have a 15 year old piece of hardware that is still really useful today? I guess you could use a mouse from 1994, with a PS2 to USB adapter - likewise a keyboard, but I don't think that 14.4 modem or 250md hdd would be very helpful.

    300 baud? Hmph. I've used a 110 baud modem. You could read each character as it came up on your terminal all green and glow-y.


    I thought I was in heaven, not having to go into the CompSci center to do my work.

    @dc-united: I'm pretty sure that one isn't 300 baud. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine they had 300 baud as 1 of the 1st modems in 1964 and that was still state of the art in 1978. I remember when the 1200 baud modems came out. My friend's dad who was a doctor had one. We used to sneak on his computer to download stuff when he wasn't around. The thing cost like $2000 in 1982 money.

    @dolo54 blows minds and blows engines!: nevermind. After seeing the characters load from Wikipedia, that does look like 300 baud. It's about as fast as mine ever would be. Damn technology was slow to improve back then! I forget how radical Moore's Law is.
