I think I gave up on Richard Marx after his first album in 1987 - but, unfortunately I bought it on CD and it is still functioning and in my CD collection right now. Argh. The teen years are frightening.
My first CD was Will Smith's Big Willie Style. My first cassette was MC Hammer's Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em. My mom only let me listen to "the happy raps". And then I found Eminem...
I think there's a lot to be said for listening to a whole album, not just with all the tracks but in the sequence that band intended to take you on a mood journey. While there are times you might want to hear just one track, or throw away the rest of the tracks, nonetheless I think you shoudl NOT have the option of buying just one track. ideally you should have to let the album play through onec before you can break the tracks apart.

I give you huge props for honesty, Jason.

First purchased (day after I got that stereo): C+C Music Factory "Gonna Make You Sweat"
I never did figure out how I managed to fail so epically on my own. To this very day I cringe every time I hear ANY of the tracks from that C+C album.

All that changed the next year when I saw Color Me Badd and Gerardo.
