And while that sounds kinda funny, it's another reminder to make sure you've changed the default password on your jailbroken iPhone.

Sophos reports that the worm appears to do nothing worse than spread and change the unlock screen wallpaper. It could have spread to other countries, but is most likely confined to Australia at this point.

The worm's creator, a 21 year old student from Sydney, told Australia's national broadcaster: "The virus itself is not malicious and is not out to hurt people. It's just poking fun and hoping waking people up a little."

But with rickrolling going on, and that Dutch guy holding hacked jailbroken phones to ransom, it may only be a matter of time until some dip-shit does something more malicious.

So if you're a Jailbreaker, go into Cydia, install the MobileTerminal app, and use the passwd command to change the default from "alpine", to something a little more secure. [Sophos]

<![CDATA["Never Gonna Give You Up" Songwriter Paid Only $16 by Youtube]]> Yeah, the Rickrolling phenomenon was annoying for the entire world, but you'd expect the songwriter would at least be pleased, right? But despite its massive popularity, songwriter Pete Waterman was paid an insulting $16. Total.

The song, which was played over 150 million times in 2008 alone, seems like it should have been a cash cow for the 62-year-old British producer and songwriter. Unfortunately, it was no such thing.

"There was I sitting at Christmas thinking, 'I must have made a few bob this year with the old Rickrolling'," he said.

"I rang my publisher and they said 'You'll be all right', until I saw the royalty statement. £11.

"If 154 million plays means £11, I get more from Radio Stoke playing Never Gonna Give You Up than I do from YouTube."

Waterman distressingly compares his plight to that of the unpaid workers in Dubai, which is insane (especially considering his net worth is somewhere around $100 million), but he brings up a very valid point. YouTube is awfully profitable popular: Shouldn't the creators of their content be equitably paid?

YouTube insists they are working with PRS for Music, an organization dedicated to seeking fair compensation for artists, but that's of no use to Waterman.

Oh, I almost forgot: click this link it's so great! [The Telegraph]

<![CDATA[The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Totally Rickrolled]]>

The poor Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends float was just minding its own business when that cocky (though rugged, handsome) superstar Rick Astley showed up and spoiled all the fun. Man, what's with that guy?? Happy Thanksgiving from the internet meme incarnate.

<![CDATA[Midomi Song Recognition iPhone App Can Name That Rickrolling Tune You're Humming]]> You've been able to sing or hum a tune into midomi.com and have it take a shot at guessing what you're crooning for a while, but today this novel tech that uses a user-generated database of recordings for comparison has found what I think might be its perfect home on the iPhone. Instead of lobbing up "Happy Birthday" or any similar, piece-of-cake pap, we thought we'd give it a more intermediate-level test suitable for our times.

Yep, aside from a few server hangs, the thing works as advertised.

UPDATE: As many commenters pointed out, Shazam is a similar app. Ran it through the Rickroll humming test and it couldn't come up with a match, but it does seem like it's highly superior for picking up and ID'ing ambient music, like the Al Green playing on the office soundsystem right now.
