    Big one. Funny you got that. A couple years ago my wife & I were leaving Bluepoint Restaurant in Atlanta late at night. Going up the stairway, some guy had bumped into my left shoulder and was sort of not making the most clear path for me to exit. I turned and immediately knew it was Elton. We exchanged hello's; he was actually very gracious. He humored me for several minutes, even invited me to eat with him!

    how does one measure speed on a sled? wind resistance? or is it just one of those "fauxdometers" that has a sticker of an odometer slapped on it?

    @discounteggroll: I'm guessing the object that appears to be a gauge is either showing burn time for the rocket fuel or how much thrust it's making..

    @discounteggroll: there is a mathematical formula to get the speed. It would literally take 5 mins of web search to find it. measure your distance and use a stop watch to time how long it took to go the measured distance. Here is one "rate=distance/time". Or in this case it would be "mph=distance traveled/hours it took to travel it". That would actually be easy to do for someone who could build a rocket sled.


    With that said, it's important to know that not even your car's speedometer is 100% exact. Things like rim/tire size can easily offset the reading slightly. My brother put super swamper tires on his truck and that gave it difference of 2mph. So nothing really noticable.
