    @everyone in this specific comment thread:

    Christ almighty.

    1) I was simply pointing out how absurd it is. I don't actually care if family lies, or people tend not to trust family, etc... The fact of the matter is they didn't, but it took myspace to not only show they didn't lie, but to save him from wrongful criminal charges.
    And that to me is ridiculous.

    2) The mention of race, by the other commenters was clearly in jest. A simple humor joke directed at the long, and always comical racial prejudices that have, unfortunately, plagued law enforcement and the justice system.

    But seriously, he looks like he actually sounds the way black comedians sound when they talking like white people... I wonder how he dials a phone... What a pancakeless nerd. #crime

    @bikr001: I doubt even a quarter of attorneys out there have even heard of this, because they invest a great deal of their time and money learning the law, not computing and networking tools. #crime

    @Kaiser-Machead: attorneys don't all wear powdered wigs, you know. In fact I'd wager that just about every attorney in the DA's office has used VNC, and NYC has arguably the most sophisticated computer crimes unit of any DA - perhaps even better than the US Attorney's office. If there were any doubt, I'm sure the DA in this case would have consulted with more technical divisions. #crime

    This seems like a bad precedent to set, I (as well as many other regular gizmodo readers) could set up scripts or use simple automation programs to do all sorts of things online while we are elsewhere.

    Even discounting the flimsy security of Facebook, imagine writing a script that logs into facebook, updates your status twice, pays a utility bill and a credit-card bill online and writes an e-mail, all while you're out robbing a bank... #crime
