<![CDATA[Palm Asks the SEC to Dismiss Roger McNamee's Senseless iPhone Rambling as Just That]]> Looks like Palm isn't so comfortable with Roger McNamee implying the first batch of iPhone owners will ditch it for the Pre this summer, or claiming the Pre will be a million times faster.

In a six-page document filed with the SEC, Palm, in so many words, asked the commission to ignore McNamee's statements as hyperbole and carry on with their regular business. But can Palm get too upset at a guy for evangelizing their relevance as a handset maker again? [Palm via Palm Infocenter] (Photo courtesy of Smart Phone Fanatics)

<![CDATA[Palm's Sugar Daddy Serves Up Another Load of iPhone Trash Talk]]> Roger McNamee, the long-haired, gadget belt-wearing founder of Elevation Partners investment group implied that the Palm Pre—in which he's investing in—will make iPhone owners switch over when their contracts expire in June.

Bloomberg writes:

"You know the beautiful thing: June 29, 2009, is the two- year anniversary of the first shipment of the iPhone," McNamee said today in an interview in San Francisco. "Not one of those people will still be using an iPhone a month later."

While this may or may not have some validity (the Pre is a beautiful phone), Boss McNamee omitted a couple of details about his potential iPhone killer here: a fair amount of initial iPhone buyers almost certainly upgraded to the iPhone 3G last summer (new two year contract!), and they won't all switch to the Pre. SO YEAH, WHAT, ROG?! NOT SO CONFIDENT ABOUT THAT NOW, ARE YA?! [Bloomberg via Electronista] (Photo courtesy of Smart Phone Fanatics)
