Wow. Just wow. And it only cost $150 to install.

Disguised as a bookcase holding the owner's Star Wars collectibles and knick-knacks, the shelving can be pushed to reveal a hidden home cinema. On the other side of that door lays the best part—Han Solo himself. Whatever this guy does for a living should be given up pronto, as I'd be willing to fling him a few dollars to build me a secret room. [Instructables via TechEblog]

<![CDATA[LAVA Future Hotel Room Is Perfect for Dr. Dave Bowman]]> Created by LAVA architects—the people who designed the Beijing Water Cube and the spectacular Michael Schumacher tower—and the work organization branch of the Fraunhofer Institute—who brought you the MP3 standard—this Future Hotel Room belongs to a set of a Kubrick movie full of monoliths and monkeys. It's not just looks, however: The room has been designed to "investigate the interfaces between architecture, technology and the human body.” One of these interactions is the use of lighting.

Using LED lighting, the designers argue that the would be able to reduce jet-lag on guests. The room also includes an active comfort bed (read "bed with fancy vibrating apparatus"), an intelligent mirror, and a personal spa area. [Dezeen]

<![CDATA[Hasbro Room Tech Clock Wirelessly Wakes the Lamps in Your Room]]> Hasbro's Room Tech Clock, which looks like a mix between an iPod and a Goomba, is an alarm clock with a wireless link to the shroom-shaped Room Tech Lamp. When the alarm goes off, two things happen; the alarm clock will either stomp its fists on the table making an awful racket, play back the radio or pump out tunes from a connected MP3 player. Secondly, the Room Tech Lamp, which is styled like a shroom-Martian hybrid, will be activated, bringing illumination to your dank, dingy room.

The Room Tech Lamp has a touch sensitive domed head, which allows the user to turn the light on, as well as select from a variety of colors simply by touching it. Additionally, the lamp has a speaker built in that can be hooked up to your MP3 player. The Room Tech duo are due out in September and will retail for £39.99 ($79) each.

Given Gizmodo writers mostly work from their beds, the biggest chore in the morning is turning on the light; we're just too lazy to pull the blinds up. Frankly, how we got by without the Room Tech series is quite beyond us. We're already in line. [Pocket-lint]

<![CDATA[The Room Defender]]> This toy is great both for your kid and for the office. The room defender works by pointing it in a direction where you want it to auto-sense movement. The victim crosses its field of vision, the Defender fires 16 foam discs at the unsuspecting intruder.

The defender has four modes, target, ambush, warning, and assault. We'll leave you to think of what each one of those modes could mean. But your office buddy Bob knows what it means—no more swiping Skittles off your desk.
