I remember 14.4k modems and logging into AOL, going into a private GIF with a macintosh performa and arguing why I shouldn't have to "send first" and how I always get burned.

@Chariot: I would argue that the best art is in fact commercialized. It takes a lot more talent to design an Aston Martin than this rug. The best movie directors make shitloads of money. Even in the video game industry, the best paid people are not programmers, but designers - and how can anyone argue that BioShock or Fallout 3 are not great artistic works? This makes a lot of sense to me. The best art is the kind that the most people appreciate. If everyone appreciates your art, they will pay for it.

@yelraf: I saw a rug almost exactly like that in the sample/return/clearance/misfit bin at a carpet store/warehouse one time...

I almost bought it. (it was like $20 for an ~8' x 10' rug, but I think one edge was unfinished so I was worried it would end up unraveling)
