Mark, it's Matt Burns from CrunchGear. I'm thinking that you have a bad model. I have a S7 sitting next to me and the screen is as bright as my LED-backlit LCD monitor. It also works fine outdoors and the touchscreen is accurate enough.
@MitchellGoose: Retracted, the brightness should be OK, though it's not bright enough to cut through its own glare. We'll agree to disagree on the rest. :)
Darn, that really bums me out. I am still on the hunt for the perfect computer to keep in my purse. I want one that I can just unzip the side of my purse, fold down the flap, and bam! Computer, phone, business cards: My own personal mini office!
@Software_Goddess: I assume that you don't want to spend a lot of money one the computer? Some UMPC's would work well like that but are always a bit to expensive.
Given the pricing, and the other specs, I don't know why you would want to get this rather than a Gigabyte T1028 which has a faster processor, larger and higher resolution screen, and has about the same weight and runtime. Am I missing something?

But I'm setting my eyes on an HP tablet.
Kinda tired of burning my money with brandless stuff that will ultimately disappoint me...

Because the battery life is so damn long, you have to stare at that crappy screen all day.

I don't know, because slapping a touchscreen usually bumps the price by a 100%, and the hardware seems more expensive than $350.
Ok, even if it is, it's the only one out there, the price is somewhat justified.
Again, maybe it's just me...

The specs are pretty good, and touchscreen is awesome, but it's too expensive... even more with a 7" screen.
A 10 incher maybe, but the way it is, I think there are other options with better cost-benefit.
