    I wonder how many more G's they can pull off with the unmanned version. I couldn't really see a Predator drone doing especially great in a dog-fight, since it looks like it's modeled after a glider, but the Sabre's specs put it squarely in fighter-jet range (if my childhood obsession with jets and flight simulators serves me right). #sabrewarrior

    Seriously, aren't all the wars we are currently in Boots-on-the-ground type engagements? How the heck is this going to deal with Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan, or prevent genocide in Darfur, or piracy off the coast of Somalia.

    Maybe it'll help blow up nuke plants in Iran and North Korea, but not much else. #sabrewarrior

    Yay! More really cool technology for us to continue pointless killing. More to the point, really cool plane. Regardless of how I feel about the government's budget and our soldiers fighting overseas, I'll support anything that helps them do their jobs and keep them safer, especially if it's cool looking. #sabrewarrior

    Hate to say it, but this IS the future...chances are the F-22 & F-35 are going to be the last manned fighter aircraft we develop. Practically every large country on earth are developing UCAVs. Ah well...at least the B-52 will be around till 2040. #sabrewarrior

    @11thRS: Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) means that with planned upgrades, the B-52 will remain in service until 2040. The newest airframes currently in service were built in November of 1961, although yes, they started production in the early 50's. #sabrewarrior

    @B52HVet: No chances about it. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs already announced that the 35 was the end of the road for manned fighter aircraft.
