This is all stupid Meg Whitman's fault. How stupid do you have to be to pay billions for a company that you don't get the rights to their key asset? That's like buying Coke without their secret formula or KFC without the Colonel's secret recipe.
I waited and waited for a day when the Queen Latifah classic "Last Holiday" would be available on Blu-Ray at a reasonable price. Unfortunately Amazon lists it for $14.99, not 79ยข, so this day is not it. Ditto Coach Carter, The Heartbreak Kid (Stiller remake), We Were Soldiers and Nacho Libre. Great "classics" you got there, Amazon!
I got excited when I saw the 18-200mm VRII Nikkor which I've really been eying lately. But if you read the fine print, that's only if you buy the D300. Any ideas on a good lens with great zoom that's compatible with my D60?
when I had my D70s, the 70-300 VR served as a nice zoom lens for under $500. Not really as all-in-one as the 18-200 VRII, but then again you're not paying nearly as much. There is however, competition 18-200 image stabilized glass from Sigma that has gotten really nice reviews for ~$350
I am surprised that Apple isn't using every dang blasted futuristic technology they have at their disposal to hunt this person down. And get back their prototype.
From a corporate standpoint, I can see two points of views - the first being clearly more Apple, than the second.
1) In my experience, Apple doesn't want faulty, or imperfect product out there in the marketplace, as it damages their reputation, and they want people to have working products. Also, they are EXTREMELY secretive when it comes to stuff like this. I wouldn't be surprised if they denied that they even create prototypes.
2) Ahhhh heck - let 'em keep it! The product is already in the market place. We can be nice, and let 'em have their fun! After all, we have family oriented values, and we are a happy, safe, and giving company!
It will be interesting to see if this machine stays in the consumer's possession......
Yes, Kit. It's the Inverted Jenny of the computer world. In fact, it was shipped to the winner in a manila envelope with an Inverted Jenny stamp (plus 63 more stamps for adequate postage).
I think you're right about the 20% markup, but most of us have no choice, they own the distibution rights to a shit-load of unique and interesting films. We're under their thumb, so to speak...
Sick!, just freaking sick!! Too bad the sale doesn't cover blu-ray players...but I was one of those who decided to sit on the sidelines and wait for the format war to end, and then BOTH side have apparently lost!?
"39 Steps" & "The baron of Arizona", with Vincent Price are on the top of my list. I wonder of my local TLA video knows this sale is happening? they always seem to be looking for interesting Criterion titles....
