In reply to Ares I in Danger of Dying Because of Alleged NASA Money Troubles
I am okay with Ares I dying, because it's a piece of crap. I'd rather use Delta IV to launch the capsule, but because of the folks who run NASA, if we cancel Ares I, we'll have paralysis, when we can least afford it.

Good. Piece of shit recycled 60's tech was an embarrassment to the space program anyways. What is the point of going back if they were just going to do it the exact same way they did 40 years ago?

I love the ridiculous image posted. Obvious use of fill light. This is the shadow side of the LM (as evidenced by the PITCH BLACK shadow beneath the ladder), yet this side, which naturally should be in total darkness is wonderfully filled with light to illuminate our brave Astro-Not. FAKED IMAGE.

There are NUMEROUS impossibilities & anomalies in the photos presented by NASA (N)ever (A) (S)traight (A)nswer as taken on the "Moon" to make one wonder if certain people did not intentionally create them to silently "Whistle Blow".

@winexprt: Sooo, if NASA faked the landings, what the hell do you think is reflected back to earth, when a laser beam is shown on each of the NASA landing sites?

There is a HD camera in orbit around the moon around right now, and it's now returning images of the Apollo landing sites. What do you think made those footprints?

The number of people who can point out how wrong you are, are legion.

Here's what bothers me. NASA always gets a bad rap for spending huge amounts of money. But when you look at the Death & Taxes chart, NASA is a tiny little bubble compared to most of the other spending. "Classified military programs" get almost the same funding as the entirety of NASA.

Obviously there are agencies that clearly deserve more funding than NASA, but I don't get why NASA is always picked on as a money hog.

With story's like this I will never believe man has landed on the moon, until they actually land somebody on the moon in today's world

Do people honestly believe NASA have landed man on moon with space ships that have computers as powerful as standard digital watches in the 1969 !!!

and yet in todays 2009 technology obsessed world, we cant land a man on the moon !!!

The moon landing were obviously faked on a desert, I wont believe it until I see clear pictures and Hi Def Footage of man on moon, with foot prints, flag and spaceship without the fake low res black and white grainy footage from 1969, with spot lights, moving flag, and desert !!!

@ploopsy: Yeah, luckily, every time a mission went up, the US extended it's cone of silence over the rest of the world, so any other country couldn't use THEIR tracking systems and dishes to ALSO receive information. Just like we only know about Sputnik because of what Russia told us.

Oh wait, we DON'T have a cone of silence, and we were tracking Sputnik and receiving signals from it? You mean rather than embarrass us, our enemies ALSO joined your conspiracy?

And no one denies the Holocaust? That statement alone makes me think QUITE less of your opinion. There are a lot more idiots who believe there was no Holocaust than believe we didn't land on the moon.

Besides, people around the world believe they see the Moon, and it doesn't even exist! [www.revisionism.nl]

@Andre Ondre: Andre- People like you scare the crap out of me. We landed on the moon 40 years ago because NASA was run by folks who could make decisions and live by them. You have a group of people running the place for the last 20 year that can no longer do that.

We could land again with equipment off the shelf, if we could only agree to do it. We look like we're trying land now with a mission that is all things to all people. Because no one wants to be a person making a bad decision, no one wants to make any decisions.

Go out to the NASA web site and pull down the images taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. Let us know why you think ithese images are faked.

More mock-ups should be done like this. Renders are all well and good but there is no substitute for good old-fashioned physical models.

@OMG! Ponies!: Agreed. You just can't get all of the feel of the design just looking at a CGI rendering. In studio we did lots of models for vehicles and the sort that we had to craft ourselves. While I would've enjoyed doing 3D modeling, having your idea exist physically is far more satisfying.
