Samsung's P400 DLP Projector is Tiny for Portability, Sleek too

Samsung's new P400 Pocket Imager projector is designed mainly for businesspeople on the go, so it's pretty tiny. Inside, its DLP unit is a native 800 x 600 resolution and its LED lighting pushes out 150 lumens, resulting in a 30- to 40-inch display capability with 1000:1 contrast ratio. It takes the standard RGB, composite, S-video and audio inputs, and has two 1-watt speakers. Plus, though it's no pico-projector, it's just 5 x 3.7 x 2 inches in size and weighs 1.9 pounds, so it'll carry nicely in your laptop bag. And you know what? Just coz it's businessy doesn't mean it has to look ugly or utilitarian: so Samsung has actually made this thing look pretty good. Available now for $749, full press release below. More »

Samsung P960 Heralds the European Arrival of the Mobile TV Cellphone

While mobile TV cellphones are ten-a-penny in the Far East, the West is pretty much virgin territory for them. Samsung's P960, however, may have got the ball rolling, a mobile TV phone aimed at European consumers. A sleek gray slider, the P960 supports both European mobile TV standards, DVB-CBMS and OMA-BCAST, and its 2.6-inch QVGA TFT screen even lets you watch two channels at the same time. As to whether we're going to see a US-friendly version later on in the year—well, that's not clear yet, but since the menu behind the dude is in dollars, perhaps the Koreans are making their press budget go a little further. Press release is after the jump.

Samsung P2 Touch Interface Up Close (Video)

Since the YP-P2 is Samsung's attempt to take on the iPod touch, we thought we'd show you a touching video—one that Jennifer and I shot in a crowded Starbucks today—depicting its (mostly) touch-friendly interface. [Samsung]

Samsung Pimps the P2 PMP With Accessories and Services

Samsung is launching the P2 PMP with content partnerships with Rhapsody, Napster and CinemaNow. There will also be an array of accessories ready, homespun hardware like speakers and wireless headphones, plus cases from DLO and Belkin. The strategy, which it calls MPfreedom, is acknowledgment that it takes more than a 3" touchscreen to compete with Apple. Here's a gallery of just some of the products and services available at launch. [Samsung]

Samsung Ships YP-P2 Media Player, Bluetooth Phone Compatibility To Come

Today in NYC, Samsung finally launched its long-awaited YP-P2 PMP, aka "the P2," the Korean powerhouse's rival to the iPod touch. The P2 features a 3" touchscreen display with an "EmoTure" interfaces that allows you to slide and tap your way through menus. But while it will ship fully functional with A2DP streaming Bluetooth stereo, its still-cooler Bluetooth cellphone speakerphone compatibility will come in a December firmware update. More »

Samsung's P520 is Slim, Touchable and Reminds Me of Something

Cellphone chatrooms and blogs have been discussing the merits of Samsung's P-520, alongside a couple of photos. This is largely seen as the Korean company's version of the iPhone (it's EDGE-supporting, after all) but whether its UI will be as revolutionary as Jobs' baby is still unknown. Maybe it's more Prada than JesusPhone—what do you think? More »

Samsung Mobile Summit: Card Phone II in the Flesh

While most of the phones Samsung showcased this afternoon in New York are phones we had seen before, we got to spend some hands on time with their Card Phone II, aka the P310. Named for its business card-like features, the GSM-based phone comes with its own carrying case and despite its size features a nice 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and support for EDGE. What I especially liked is...

Samsung P310 Calculator-Styled Cellphone

This Samsung P310 may be tiny, and it may have a brushed metal back, but to us it just looks too much like a calculator to be fashionable or cool. But for those who disagree, it's got a 220x176 color display, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD card slot, MP3/WMA/AAC playback, 2 megapixel camera, and 30FPS video capture—both with auto focus. The screen is OLED, which makes the display supposedly a lot sharper than other phones made by Sony, Nokia or Motorola. More »
