Why does Samsung insist on making left handed sliders? LG slides with a thumb press and mine winds up upside down when I flip the keyboard open... It's not that big of a deal, but their lead engineer must be a lefty. #samsungmoment

Matt, I'm concerned about this constant hanging you speak of. I don't experience that on my G1, whether in Google Talk, or any other app. Beware of apps that are polling constantly, or have "slick" UIs that aren't strictly necessary. I deleted Twidroid for this reason. It may be one of the better Twitter apps for Android, but it's still extremely buggy. It seems to cause a lot of slowdown, and independant of settings, seems to suck a lot of battery life. I recommend Advanced Task Manager to weed out such bloated and piggy apps, and apps that may be loaded that you aren't using. #samsungmoment

I'll stick with my Hero. HTC actually invests a lot into tweaking and optimizing Android for their phones, whereas Samsung seems to have just slapped it into this phone. Case in point the Hero w/ Sense UI seems to run just as well as stock Android on this phone despite the faster processor... #samsungmoment

@cc82: HTC is also pretty good about getting updates out to their customers even on models that have been out awhile. I was seriously considering this phone but that kind of lag would make me throw it through a window. I'm not a patient person. The fact that the wait for 1.6 will be so long is a red flag regarding their software engineering support.

I'd go with the Hero but I have a thing for the hardware QWERTYs.

Personally I prefer getting a handset, and then picking how I want it to be setup. I find it crazy that so many people want to get a handset with something like the Sense UI or Blur already hammered into the system. Vanilla is the best, because then you can customize it with what YOU want, not what the developers thinks you need. Gimme Vanilla, if I want a different flavor I will download OpenHome/aHome/dxTop or any other skinning app that is available to change the flavor up some. I'll download and install what widgets I want, I don't need Blur telling me I want a social networking handset. I'll do that myself if I so choose. Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass on the pre-customized garbage. #samsungmoment

@Forsakenchild: Well said. The Blur styling and features are somewhat nice at first blush, but I would never buy an Android device with a modified UI like that. I don't need a hardware manufacturer's insecurity about their place in the foodchain imposing itself upon my user experience. #samsungmoment

What? You can't give the AMOLED a Plus and a Minus. What is it, pretty or blue? That said, I am disappointed you didn't like the screen as that's what I was most interested in seeing. Oh well.

@android.one: Why not? The display might be crisp and responsive, but if it's also heavily skewed to the blue, that might be unacceptable. One feature may be fine for some people, but the drawback might be a dealbreaker (as with me). Even my G1 skews a bit to the blue, and it bugs me, but it's not that bad. #samsungmoment

@met2art: Ha, Yes I understand that it can both be clear and bright, yet blue, but maybe I'm being too digital in my thoughts. It's either 1 or 0, good or bad. :) However, I'm still disappointed it didn't get more praise as I would love to have a great looking screen. #samsungmoment

Hmm. Looks pretty good. Not my favorite Android device I've seen, but definitely pretty solid.

As far as the stock Android goes, it seems that most of the carriers that are picking up Android are going for both an overhauled version and a Google Experience version. T-Mo's got the G1/MyTouch tag teaming with the CLIQ. Sprint and Verizon are both getting HTC's Hero, while Verizon's picking up the Tao/Sholes/Droid. If this is Samsung's alternative to the Hero, but they have both options, color me satisfied.

In any case, I've been pretty happy with the stock Android so far. Since the polish came with 1.5 it actually hasn't looked that bad.

@ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNO-TOAD: It doesn't seem that hard of a choice. Do you want a real keyboard and a faster processor or not? The pretty interface of the Hero should eventually come to this phone courtesy of XDA Developers.

Maybe I'm just pissy because I have a G1. :(

@ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNO-TOAD: If this had a touch screen I would go with it, but that trackpad thing sounds like the suck.

I'm still going Hero slower processor or not (for now). If i hate it, you have 30 days to turn in it in which case I'll get this one haha

@Sir Gibler: I just don't like the bend on the V one, other than that I would agree.
