In theory.

The Price: $60

Does It Work?: Yes, but not really. Only objects placed directly to the midsole triggered the metal detector. You'll know if you've found something by the tone, LED or, if it's in vibrate mode, feeling the rumble. Most of the time, however...

Did I Find Treasure?: Nope. I didn't find shit. The detector would beep when I put it against metal objects like keys within an inch, and even found the screws in my leg's titanium rod, but no dice in the real world actually hunting for booty.

Did Anyone Make Fun Of You for Wearing Them?: Not to my face, but I was still ashamed of myself.

The Verdict: Forget about it.

Too weak to find treasure.

<![CDATA[Metal Detector Sandals Are the Perfect Fit For the Super Lazy]]> Tonight, on your local news at 11: Area man shocked slightly after wandering into surf while wearing his new metal detector shoes.

It could happen, is all I'm saying, as these $60 gems from Hammacher Schlemmer contain a 9-volt battery and plenty of copper wire. The anklet pack vibrates, flashes or buzzes when you walk over something metal, up to 2 feet below the surface. [Hammacher Schlemmer via OhGizmo]

<![CDATA[Reef Dram Sandals Carry Relief for the Perpetually Thirsty]]> Squirrel away three ounces of your favorite beverage inside the heel of each of these Reef Dram Sandals, giving you a total of four generous shots of courage afoot wherever you may roam. Looks like a great way to keep your sanity—that is, if you don't mind your single malt tasting a bit like feet.

We like this Reef company, one that keeps besotted wretches such as your heavily sedated Gizmodo team in mind. You may remember its first foray into drinking and walking with its bottle opener sandals, and now there's these $45 Dram Sandals that are available in three earthy colors. Just be sure to empty the contents of their internal flasks before placing them on that airport security conveyor belt.

<![CDATA[ArchPort Sandals, Instead of Pockets]]>

Summer's here, and a lot of the shorts you might be wearing these days don't have any pockets. But you probably still want to carry sufficient bucks around for those inevitable eventualities. Now you can stash anything in these ArchPort sandals, where there's a fitted insert nestled in the arch of each of these pedestrian-looking flip-flops.

Hide your valuables in there, and no one's the wiser, not even the bad guys. Except of course, if they read Gizmodo (but reliable sources tell us there are no bad guys reading Gizmodo). ArchPorts are available in small, medium or large, and in your choice of blue, black or brown, for $44.95.

<![CDATA[Kai Kai Sandals]]> When a member of the Gizmodo team and his entire bloody extended family including In-Laws, Parents, young Baby Boy, and Wife, spends time on island paradises, namely Key West, he likes to talk to the makers of all-rubber sandals in order to silence the lambs that keep howling in his head as that selfsame extended family drives him insane. To this end, we present the Kai Kai Sandal. These sandals have all rubber soles that will eventually mold to the foot and won't flatten out like other flip flops. While this particular member of the team does not like flip-flops that much, these sandals were quite comfortable, if not a bit expensive. The suede upper perhaps adds to the appeal, non? We thought so.
